Review Melbourne Arms - Melbourne

David and Jax Parkin
Four of us have visited here twice for food over the weekend. We booked a table on both occasions. The pub was welcoming with a log burner in the middle near to the dining table. We had three dogs between us and they were made welcome too. The food was excellent. We sampled the pie, the stuffed chicken breast and the sticky pork with rice. Everyone cleared their plates and reported back to the waiter that the food was amazing. We had a couple of drinks each, the total cost was just under £100.00. We were so impressed that we booked for Sunday lunch the following day. The Sunday lunch was just as nice, the leaks in cream sauce were to die for (all apart from the yorkshire puddings which were over done, burnt and crispy). Again the cost was around £100.00 in total.

Lovely village pub. Food was really good, friendly staff, warm welcome. Good selection of food choices on menu. Definitely be back again. I’m told the Sunday lunch is very good too.

The Melbourne Arms is very close to the Melbourne Canal Basin. It was a good place to stop on our walk along the pocklington canal. There is a good choice of beers, lager and cider, including three hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The cask ale was excellent when we called in. There is no pool table or dart board. It's mainly a food orientated pub. We didn't have anything to eat but had a look at the menu, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked very nice, and there were a lot of people having meals. I will come back to try the food. The pub is dog friendly.

We visited today, a group of 9 adults, 3 children and a dog - so we brought chaos and had to change our booking a few times beforehand! The Melbourne Arms were super helpful from booking to their service and the Sunday dinners were delicious too. Thank you for a great meal.

One of the best food experiences I've had in terms of food quality, price and portion size with excellent service from 2 pleasant young ladies who both took it in turns to see that our visit was satisfactory. Well worth the visit for a excellent food and service at a reasonable price. Amazing pizzas!

We called in for lunch before a walk by the canal, received a cheerful welcome and when seated were given first class service from Jesse, there is a very varied menu plus a specials board, real ales. The food, from local producers, is prepared and cooked to order and is delicious but at busy times there may be a wait, be patient it's worth it.

Me and my partner had an incredible meal here a few days ago. We went expecting pub grub, what we got was one of the best meals we've ever had! Staff were really friendly and gave great service. I have coeliacs and the gluten free options were really good and the staff knowledgeable about their food. Really impressed. We've recommended to all our friends and family. Thank you!

First visit to the Melbourne Arms with family for Sunday Lunch on Mother’s Day . The food and service was excellent and thank you for the gift of a glass of Prosecco and Home-Made Biscuit for the mum’s. We will definitely return!

Great food we had for starters chinese flavoured belly pork and halummi fries. Main meal beef ale pie and fish burger. Worth the drive for something different. Hope I can visit here again.

Oh sadly I went today with my grandchildren and never been before thought it would cap a lovely day off ! Waited hour food and the little ones hungry we booked and expected to be given food around half hour ! It was nearly hour wait poor service I know my daughter knows staff but I expected good service hour wait not good enough Food was dry I asked gluten free and said no potato wasn’t offered alternative parsnips poor was told have potatoes but I don’t eat them ! The food that come out was dry tasteless no seasoning and the veg was presented with loads broccoli mashed carrots and cabbage red no choice what we had I’ve been given was left overs rate this as the worst !! My beef was white white beef wasn’t mentioned on menu why not advise your customers ?? my partner asked me why carrots had been mashed like baby food ?? The kids enjoyed there meals so I paid 58 pounds for the meal whereas normally I buy a starter and a main and a pudding for 4 for that price .... The kids meals didn’t include a pudding either Sadly gobsmacked! So walked over didn’t comment paid never to return Poor

We love this place! We’ve now been for food several times and it has always been exceptional! The welcome from the staff is second to none and the service is excellent! We had a meal there 2 days ago and once again we weren’t disappointed! Karen (one of the owners) has decorated the whole place for Christmas beautifully! It looks magical! Well done everyone!

Out first meal here. Have been many times for a drink. Lovely welcome by the landlady, seated quickly . Did have to wait a while to order food but it was busy. When the food arrived it didn't disappoint . I ordered shepherds pie with veg, Andy had mixed grill amazing , good value for money.

First time visit on Sunday. Pub was very busy as it was Father's Day and we had to wait a while for our food even though we had booked, but we were kept informed of how long we'd be waiting and received apologies for the delay. Thankfully the food was worth the wait - really really excellent and plenty of it. We'll definitely be back again!

Our first visit today for Sunday lunch ( I'm a tad fussy about Sunday lunches, except mine) Was served a piping hot plate with meat, roast tatties, mash and parsnips with delightful looking/ smelling gravy, followed by a lovely dish of veg, red cabbage, leeks, carrots and broccoli...all very attractive and HOT....this is one of the best roasts I've had for a very long time. Thank you. Ohhh and the Raspberry meringue sundae was great too. We will be back!

Reasonable pub food. Lovely staff particularly the young guy behind the bar. My only feedback would be to say please allow dogs inside the pub.

Called here today on our journey home. We received a warm welcome and were served quickly. A great atmosphere and all the staff were friendly. The food was amazing and great value. We will definitely call again if we are in the area. My husband would probably happily drive the 80 miles for lunch as he loved it.

Been to the Melbourne Arms tonight for my husbands Birthday. We are friends that pick a place to eat who's birthday it is. We popped in during the summer just for a drink only to realise it was owned by someone I went to school with. I booked a few weeks ago for eight of us. All I can say is the food was amazing the staff A+ and the atmosphere great, we all agreed it was a fantastic night and would highly recommend it. Can't wait until our next visit.

Can't thank Karen and the team enough for their consistently good food and service at our fund raising events. Everyone is always very happy with their meal and a great night had by all. From all in the Melbourne Play Park Fund.
