Amigos Chapel Street

I'm totally lost for words after reading the poor reviews on here, I've been going there for a number of years and the food has always been fantastic and I've taken many friends too and we all agree it's got to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Melbourne, The staff have always been helpful when I turn up with a few friends without a booking and we always get a table after a short wait. I'm going back there on Saturday and I'm confident it will be another great meal.

This food was inedible. The meat in my enchilada was sickeningly salty, stringy and dry. All I could eat was the bread it was wrapped in. I tasted my friends nachos and the cheese that wasn't burnt was possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. The service was incredibly slow and apologetic and the food was outrageously overpriced.

I would never ever go back to Amigos as there are couple of reasons. Reason number1 is hospitality: 1. I got voucher from group on and I noticed all the people who had the vouchers from group on were treated like trash. as if we were eating food for free. People who came after us were serviced first becoz they were not using the groupon. Also it took more than 25 mins for starters which was dips and Nachos than again waited 40 mins for main which was burrito and again more than 30 mins for desert. 2. Inspite of me requesting them not to put cheese and rice as I am allergic, still there was cheese and rice and they didn’t even bothered to make another burrito. 3. when we ordered desert we waited for 30 mins and than we were informed the batter for chiroz has been finished and we should go for brownie and Ice-cream Reason 2 : Horrible food 1.Food was really bad. I had the burrito and it was baked with some basel leaves and cheese.. i was wondering what kind of invention it was and the rice was on sides also for gulacomula i have to pay 5$ extra. 2. Sangria which they provided was not sangria it was just ice. More than half of the jug was filled with ICE. 3. We ordered desert as in chiroz as batter for chiroz was finished we agreed to get brownie with ice-cream. there was no ice-cream on top of brownie, instead of ice-cream they provided some thick cream. Reason 3: Late service we reached there at 6:20 and we finished our dinner only at 8:45 although we just ordered simple food

We went a few months ago and had the most divine drink with wine, fruit, ice OMG so lovely :) and then nachos with chicken and a friend beef, they were uber tatsy fresh, salty cheesy very naughty but o so nice and could not fit another thing in so decent size meal too .., service was more than fine - I am going back with the same group as last time and we are all really looking forward to it! especially for the drinks no the nachos no the drinks - BOTH!! look its no Masterchef dining affair but its good go once and you'll want the nachos again and again
