Nabe One Japanese Cafe

Went in on a whim as they opened. Staff were very friendly to us and to each other. The fried rice was delicious with fresh vegetables that weren't overcooked, I had tan tan ramen which i didn't have high expectations for as I know it isn't a specialised ramen place, but it was ok. Noodles were a bit soft for my liking but the egg was perfect. Gyoxa were fried perfectly. For the price it was pretty good!

You get what you pay for. $10.90 for a big bowl of chicken katsu don, the serving was beyond generous. The food comes very quickly after ordering, and the chicken is very crispy. The sweet sauce was a bit too overpowering though, and the flavour in the egg was a bit lacking. However, not a bad meal. Just wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here again.

Nice food, very tasty and the servings feel generous. The prices are not high. Last time we were there a skinny waitress was extremely grumpy and snapped at one of us. We were a largish group of eight, were seated at about 3.30 pm on Sat 21st Dec, and someone at the western end of the table asked her for three more bowls. Then about 1/2 a minute later someone at the eastern end of the table got up and asked for the sane three bowls, not realising that the person on the western end had already requested them. She snapped at the person who got up and asked. Yes it was our bad in the lack of end to end table communication, but geez you don't scold customers like that. She's kind of forgetting that businesses depend on customer satisfaction. The entire staff were in a grim mood. Otherwise, the food was fine.

This is bad. Service passable though the wait staff looks dead in the eyes, doesn't smile and looks mildly annoyed when asked for something. (Note I don't think smiling is mandatory but just to describe how unwelcomed I felt.) The tempura Udon I ordered was terrible. The tempura batter was hard and chewy - the absolute opposite of what it should be, also not sure if there was any actual shrimp meat in there. The broth was tasteless. I would not recommend this. Giving it 2 stars as it is inexpensive and venue was clean.

My friend recommended me the beef tongue don and I tried it today. Totally disappointed! The beef tongue was thinly sliced and lost the juicy feeling. And the dumplings were likely brought from Asian supermarket. All of the chefs and waitresses speak Chinese but the menus are in Japanese. The food are totally not Japanese style. Never come back again!!
