Empire Steak

The medium rare steak sandwich tasted ok, the onion relish was nice, but the whole sandwich was a tad “Meh”. I think the steak needed a bit more seasoning. The grain salad, on the other, had was quite tasty. The roasted cauliflower was crunchy, the lentils were soft it was all and complemented the generous amount of pomegranate arils.

We were really disappointed with the sandwiches and service last night. We placed our order and sat down. Our "shoe string fries" were brought out first with the horseradish sauce ordered extra, that we thought would be added to our sandwich. The fries were not shoe string but just regular fries. Our sauce was replaced with the tomato sauce we actually ordered (at $2 a dollop). The other sauce we ordered and paid for was not available and replaced with another of our choice. Our food was left on the counter while the server took a personal phone call. My sandwich (Smoko) was cold, tasteless and had hardly any sauce on it at all. The bread was very good, thankfully. My husband's sandwich (anti steak) was a also cold and devoid of any sauce. We will not be returning

Just Ok. I saw this place a few weeks ago while in the city and decided to go back and give it a go. I ordered the $14.50 Battler and a drink. $17.70 total. I ordered it off the picture of it on their menu board. Well it came out and really, should I be surprised when it doesn't resemble the picture ? It had all that it said it had but the steak was overcooked compared the way its advertised in the picture. I have photos if what mine looked like here. The flavour was ok. Size was ok. Not big and filling but did the job for a quick bite to eat. Though for the price, they have some stiff comp as there are pubs and cafe who deliver better for the same price. And if you're going to display a meal being medium rare, cook it that way and not medium to well.Staff were friendly enough and the store was just ok atmosphere. 3 out of 5. J!

The food is tasty, though not the cheapest option in the area. The real reason I write this review is that apparently they don't provide tap water - all their drinks must be purchased. Poor service when you're selling such salty food at $15. Edit to respond to owner's comments: thanks for this, this is good news. However I was told by one of your staff when I asked for tap water that only bottled water was available for purchase, so if it is available please make sure your staff know that.

Expensive, slow service and really uninspiring, poor quality food! $14.50 for a cold steak sandwich (cold fries extra) is simply a joke... the fillings and bread are on par with something served at McDonalds. Don't waste your money on the fries, they're ghastly! The interior is as confected as the food... the whole experience was an utter waste of time!
