Delicious. One of my favs.
I’ve been meaning to rate this place for a while. So so good. I have been a couple times now and I highly recommend.
I usually get the pork dumplings, the chicken and prawn dumplings and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Sometimes we add a rice dish too. All quite nice.

Best fired dumplings I've ever had. I asked a staff member which were his favourite non spicy noodles and I was recommended the shanghai noodles (with pork) and it's now my favourite.
Great portions, perfectly cooked, kind staff.

Small place but wow, the best crispy skin duck we have ever eaten. We also had the sweet and sour chicken, large rice and mixed veg.
Very large serves. Fast service too. One of Melbourne's hidden gems

Good little place for dumplings. The prawn spring rolls were a standout. The chicken & prawn and the pork dumplings are juicy and flavoursome. In the dims sims the home-made dim sim is good. The fried rice was great and the special chilli beef was not bad. Not enough of a chilli hit though if you love chilli or spicy.

Delicious scrumptious dumplings and noodles. Lovely friendly ladies serving. Very reasonable prices. Been few times and definitely will go again

Have had better Chinese food in small country towns. Chinese style prison food vibes. Not that cheap.

A place that I am sure you have driven past, noticed and thought you should try it (yellow signage and kingsway) - definitely try it. Our favourite local dumplings - so fresh and delicious. A great selection of Asian dishes to share or eat the lot yourself.

So this is not a place you go to to enjoy the decor, the ambience or the witty bartender, you come here for the dumplings and bao. The dumplings are superb, as are the wonton. I have been lucky to eat Xi Long Bao all over Asia, including in the Michelin stared Din Tai Fung in HK, and IMHO the mini pork bao that I ate tonight are as good as Din Tai Fung, if not better. Go there, eat, enjoy.
Please note that since my original review I have eaten there 4 times already and despite the decor, it does deserve 5 stars. Even the outside toilets are pristine and smell nice (according to my mum)
