Simply the best!! We had fish, chips and mushy peas for lunch today and I think it was the best fish and chips we've had for a long time. The fish was moist and tasty with crispy batter, the chips were deliciously crispy and even the mushy peas had a subtle minty flavour. Generous portion size.
Ignore any negative reviews (they're probably from jealous competitors 😂)

Quite busy lively place with friendly staff. Short wait for food but well worth the wait.
One downside is they only take cash but there is a free cash machine in a local store fifty yards down the road.

We live just a few miles away and have a fish & chip takeaway from the Mere Chippie about once a month. Every time we visit the manageress is cheerful, friendly and helpful, and the fish & chips are delicious with huge portions. If you pay extra for a large cod you definitely get a large piece of fish. Yummy every time, and recommended. It's cash only, no card payment, which helps to keep the price down.

Decent fish and chips, chips were nice and an added bonus of 2 free sausages as we ordered near closing time! Friendly staff
Nice clean food and not oily. Huge pile of chips, next time I'll order half as many, fish could do with being just a little bit bigger. Cash only, I carry very little cash but there is an ATM in the coop and few doors down. My kids ate the lot.
