Novello Ristorante

There were about 15 of us- it was pre booked. Would recommend. Lovely food, big portions, attentive and friendly service and close to the University (we walked from there - only a couple of minutes). Varied menu- including alcohol- and also high chairs available (we didn’t need them but I noticed them). I would recommend and would definitely go back. I wasn’t able to speak to the manager on the night (I did ask) but I do wonder if calling one of the dishes the “ladies parmo” can be reconsidered. I understand it’s meant to be the smaller version of the “parmo” chicken dish but in reality it wasn’t that much smaller and perhaps it’s best just to call them small or large (or starter or main portions). The wording feels a bit out of touch and dated otherwise. That said, I would still return regardless of the wording as it was very tasty and a relaxing atmosphere despite us being the noisiest table there :)

My daughter and I visited yesterday and were very impressed with the food and the service. My daughter is coeliac and was given a wide choice of gluten free options. She chose pepperoni pizza and chips while I had fish and chips, both were delicious. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in the area

Sat outside and we ordered 1 lunch special (I had the tomato soup and spaghetti bolognaise) and 1 fish & chips. The soup was rich and flavourful, but a little too acidic. The spaghetti bolognaise was great, and the portion was massive - well worth the price. The fish and chips was quite good for an italian restaurant. The only complaint is that the servers, while friendly and helpful, didn't check on the customers outside enough, but it seemed like a very busy shift, so I don't blame them. Overall, I was quite pleased and would come again.
