Great food, friendly staff. Really well presented dishes, good soul food without any meat alternatives which is great to see where a lot of vegan and non vegan restaurants lean into the ease of alternative products. Everything appears and tastes home made. I had the burger and nachos. Would have loved space for a dessert but the portions are very generous. I was surprised that the side salad the burger came with was as satisfying as it was - I'm a 100kg gym going 6'1 fella so saying a salad was tasty and satisfying goes miles toward explaining how good this place is! I also had the milkshake which was lovely Would definitely return if I find myself in Middlesbrough again.

Incredibly good food. Having just moved the area I am trying out loads of different options and AK is certainly top of the list in terms of taste and value for money. The portions are filling and I honestly feel great after my visits. Proper soul food. Caveat, I eat a meat heavy diet, so for anyone who is put off by the Vegan label don't be. Just pop in, order the BBQ tacos or Thai wrap, close your eyes and take a bite, you'll be a regular in no time. Oh and try the cookies, possibly the best I've tasted.

Alkaline Kitchen is a cute and quiet cafe, their main focus is having healthy vegan options so everything is naturally sourced and hand made. I tried the Alkaline Burger which is the best bean burger I have ever had and probably the only bean burger I've ever enjoyed. The atmosphere is chilled and cosy, the staff are incredibly friendly and polite, the prices are reasonable and of course the food is delicious. There is paid parking just around the corner.

Unbelievably delicious food which was quite filling. Lively and beautiful ambience. Highly recommended. We were on a one day visit from Derby, whenever we visit again, will definitely check in again 👍🏼.

They made me a delicious Thai Buddha bowl to takeaway even though they were just about to close. Lovely mix of flavours.

Alkalise your body and improve your health … I’ve wanted to eat here since I moved north in November and it’ll be the first of many visits from now on. Our first time here with a table for 5 and all sharing meant we tasted a big section of the menu (see images of the menu). Each of the portions was very generous to say the least. What amazed us all we’re the complex flavour combinations. They were slightly weird on some but they all worked and very well too. Alkaline Nachos £10.95 - Nachos with marinated baked quinoa, topped with refried beans, cashew sour cream, guacamole, pineapple salsa and pickled red cabbage. All with a smoked cashew cheese drizzle over. They were indulgent, sweeter than I’ve had before and had tangy twist too. BBQ Tacos £9.50 - Shredded carrot in an alkaline BBQ sauce in a crispy corn shell, filled with refried beans and guacamole. Topped with pineapple salsa and pickled red cabbage, served with a side salad. Best BBQ tacos in the north so far. Thai Buddy Bowl £10.95 - Orange teriyaki chickpea tofu surrounded by, pineapple 'fried' quinoa, purple coleslaw, a thai side salad, with an almond and ginger dressing and quinoa falafels topped with mango chutney. Crazy flavours that worked really well. This was my favourite dish and I could eat this most days of the week. I’ll be back for this dish on its own. Thai Wrap £9.95 - Quinoa and peanut butter falafels in a soft wrap with mango chutney, coleslaw and kimchi served with a thai side salad, with an almond and ginger dressing and pineapple quinoa. A mental combination of ingredients for a falafel but was amazing. Again, sweeter than I’d have imagined. Pink Pitaya Acai Bowl - £5.50 - A fruity smoothie bowl topped with raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, banana kiwi and coconut (we held the seeds). What an amazing breakfast. A real power breakfast too. Immunity Boost Juice £4.00 (x2) - Strawberry, pear, apple and lemon juice. Refreshing and moreish. Tropical Sunrise Smoothie £4.50 - Papaya, mango, orange, banana, coconut, maple and cashew smoothie. It was as nice as you’d expect and none of the fruits lost their identity due to the power of another. Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie £4.50 - Strawberries, banana, peanut butter, maple and lemon smoothie. Another one that doesn’t quite sound right but really does. The peanut butter was not overpowering and provided a nice earthy grainy taste and texture, lifted by the sweetness of the fruit. A great experience and worth the wait. Would I recommend - Yes - I’d insist you go for the flavours and filling plates alone. Will I return. We’ll be back again soon. Need to finish that menu. Alkaline kitchen - What’s in a name? Your metabolism — the conversion of food into energy — is sometimes compared to fire. When things burn, an ash residue is left behind. Similarly, the foods you eat leave an “ash” residue known as metabolic waste. This metabolic waste can be alkaline, neutral, or acidic. So, if you eat foods that leave acidic ash, it makes your blood more acidic. If you eat foods that leave alkaline ash, it makes your blood more alkaline. Acidic: meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, grains, alcohol. Neutral: natural fats, starches, and sugars. Alkaline: fruits, nuts, legumes, and vegetables. Acidic ash is thought to make you vulnerable to illness and disease, whereas alkaline ash is considered protective. By choosing “Alkaline Kitchen” and an alkaline diet you should be able to “alkalize” your body and improve your health.

Love, loved it. Food was fantastic so fresh and very tasty. Had the BBQ tacos, hubby, had the burrito, I pinched a bite and didn't know who's was best, reality both perfect. Nachos the choice of our daughter and not a vegan but she was very impressed, may sway her still. Definitely will be back. Oh by the way gorgeous drinks too, if you don't feel like a bite to eat

Anyone who doubts how tasty vegan food can be needs to visit Alkaline Kitchen. Very tasty dishes served by friendly staff. It really is hard to believe such food is vegan, and we'll be visiting again, not because it is vegan, but because it is delicious!

Delicious vegan food. Packed with loads of diverse flavours, and the place has been designed very well and looks awesome on the inside. Very friendly and helpful staff. I recommend this place to anybody, even if you are not vegan or vegetarian – the food is still amazing.
