The food here is outstanding. You will struggle to get a better Chinese restaurant.
Best place for Chinese food in Middlesbrough!
Situated right on the university campus, The Star is a favourite of students looking for a quick bite or a cheap-and-cheerful night out.
I used to come here with mates as a student and I remember a friendly, exciting atmosphere on nights out. I had especially good nights when fancy dress or discos were set up here.
As for the daytime it has a varied selection of food and drinks. The menu features wraps, burgers, jacket potatoes, other pub favourites like Sunday carvery not to mention the local favourite the mighty parmo. Recently I had the Mexican burger and chips but there is one thing I have to recommend you try.
The Star does good parmos, great chips and their garlic sauce is d i v i n e. Seriously not sure what they do to it but it’s probably my favourite food spot garlic of all time.
The Star is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 7:30pm whilst Fridays are 9-5. Saturday’s are 10-5pm and Sundays are 12:00-4:00pm.
Go give them a try! (seriously- order the garlic)
The place is a basic Brittish pub with beer and pub food. It's located in the university grounds so I expect it to be packed with students when the semester is on.
Servings are big and hearty. You order and pay at the bar so no unnecessary waiting for the bill. Very casual.
Had Sunday dinner here, food was good but very busy and struggled to get a table. Dinner was carvery style with a choice of four meats and a selection of vegetables and as many roasties as you want just a shame no parsnips!
Great staff and a cracking quiz every Wednesday. Good prices too
Great night out, but what i like the most is the Sunday carvery, absolutely top notch, give it a try, been many times never had a bad one.

when i was still at uni this was my favourite place to get a parmo and a drink after lessons on a night, i even worked on some projects there. i still remember the last time i was there.
i went back in november though after graduating and it seems to have closed down :(
Been to the Star for a meal twice when taking my son back to Teesside Uni. Excellent food and service. Will be going again tomorrow ( 7th Sept 2016)

It's like my home away from home. Great food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and good beer.
Great carvery. Been coming a few years always about last. Staff know us and look after us.
