First time I have ever been and I would highly recommend to any sea food lover. The food is fresh, you don't know what your going to get till it is served and the waitress or waiter tells you. They leave you to enjoy your food and don't keep asking if you need more drinks. They only have a few tables which allows the chef to be able to cook to a much higher standard, which you taste in the outstanding dishes he prepare for you. We are already planing our next visit.
This place never fails to impress. You never know what you are going to eat and when it arrives it is incredible, visually and taste! Always served by friendly staff who explain what you are about to eat, the attention to detail is second to none

If you love beautifully presented, top quality food with a fun twist, then look no further. I have to say that Verveine is my favourite restaurant. The welcoming staff are friendly, even David takes a moment from the cooker to say ‘hi’. The atmosphere is relaxed, with very good background music!
Each plate is beautifully and very carefully presented and explained. Even the actual plates are stunning! The tastes within each dish are perfectly paired. Each time I go I think one dish is my favourite and the next time I swap. That is how good the food is, and I never leave a thing! It is great that the ingredients are locally sourced, caught and picked. David also has a vast range of tools to enable some foods to be presented in innovative ways, a super surprise element.
This visit this time was with my elderly father, he loves it there too, and we managed the 6 course option this time. The wine choices are always superb, sometimes selected off the beaten track, so new wines are used well.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, go, eat and enjoy. I think it is very good value for money.
Just had a near perfect birthday lunch, here. Four course tasting menu with wine. Not cheap but truly memorable. Will return without doubt.
We found booked Verveine for a Tuesday evening. The menu is a taster of either 4, 6 or 8 courses.
The 6 course meal was extraordinary and each was unknown at the beginning.
The staff explained each course at it arrived, and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.
A relaxed setting with plenty of time between each delightful course.
A wine pairing is offered, although we opted for wine by the glass.
Each course was, on its own, a taste delight.
The little things such as the beautiful plates and the presentation of the cutlery added to the quality of the setting.
The overall experience was exceptional.
David Wykes and his team offer the very best meal we have ever had in a fish restaurant.

We visited for lunch today, we had the 6 course tasting menu which was fabulous!!
The staff explained each course and none disappointed.
We kept saying 'this is the best course' that was, until the next one arrived!
Dietary requirements were handled without any issues.
The staff were amazing too.

Wow what a little gem. This was a recommend, we drove 2 hours to experience the tasting menu and I'm so glad we did. What an experience. Service was impeccable and the food was fresh, tasty and clever. I can't actually say which was my favourite dish, they all had a twist of some kind and every mouthful was an expericne in itself. We will definitely be back!
Incredible! We booked the day before, I think we were incredibly fortunate, as only a small restaurant - definitely worth booking!
Food was absolutely excellent throughout- we had a Mango Shot with a twist, followed by a Basil and Comté Cheese Waffle with Crispy Onions as a complimentary amuse-bouche.
Both had the Smoked Salmon, which there was plenty of and it was just delicious!
Seabass and Norwegian Cod for main - both garnished exquisitely.
Difficult to fault any part of the experience- we will definitely return!
Absolutely blown away by the seafood dishes at Verveine since we tried their incredible tasting menu at the weekend. So much love clearly poured into creating those incredible delicious stunningly plated offerings. Flavours galore, each dish stealing our attention from the last as it arrived. Such an understated charming restaurant where the food absolutely speaks for itself. Not to mention the delicious cocktails and mocktails - took real restraint not to order every one to try! Exceptional service too - what a brilliant warm welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable team. One diner wanted halal food and I don’t think we have ever had such a thoughtful positive response to our query about catering for that requirement. Definitely visiting again and already given gift vouchers to friends. An unforgettable experience - a brilliant choice for special occasions but just to lift an ordinary day to make it a little more extraordinary too.
