Debbie Gillespie Cake Design

We loved Debbie’s quirky style when we first saw her stand at the National Wedding Show and felt compelled to book a consultation with her. We had decided on a Harry Potter-themed wedding and spotted a HP cake on Debbie’s stand – we couldn’t take our eyes off it and kept coming back to the stand for another look! Debbie worked with us and our budget right from the start, she totally got behind our theme and made our dream wedding cake become a reality at a price affordable to us. On the day itself, we were blown away by our cake when we walked into the room for the first time, it was honestly the showstopper. Everyone commented on how wonderful it looked and, later in the evening, how wonderful it tasted! We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding cake or a better supplier to work with. Debbie is a truly magnificent person and an extremely talented baker – we can’t recommend her enough for her imagination, hard work and overall outstanding cake business.

Debbie is truely talented. We first met Debbie at a wedding fair and we were blown away by her cakes and ideas. We went to a taster day with her and she listened to what we wanted over tea and cake. She took one of her designs and personalised it for us as I am mad over cows we had to incorporate them in somehow! Her cakes tasted truly incredible! Guests on the day were blown away by how beautiful the cake was and loved the cows! The sticky toffee pudding cake was amazing!! When we first met Debbie, we were truly impressed by her professionalism and friendliness! She provided us with a cake tasting whilst we spoke of our ideas for our wedding cake. Debbie is truly an artist! Our cake was absolutely beautiful! We had a specific idea of what we wanted and she made it happen! It was exactly how I pictured it! Not only is she an amazing cake decorator, but her baking is also second to none! We ordered a 4 tier cake including a large chocolate mud layer, a banana cake layer, a gluten free lemon layer and a red velvet layer. And nothing was wasted! I would recommend Debbie to anyone wanting their dream wedding cake. She is amazing!

Debbie was recommended to us by my hair and MUA when planning my wedding. On this recommendation I checked out her website and booked a consultation with her at her lovely home in Huddersfield. Obviously we were a bit nervous at first, unsure about our budget and going into someones home to judge their baking can be a little scary. However Debbie was very welcoming from the start and made us feel completely at ease, discussed design and budget with us and it was like calling over at a friends house and seemed strange that we were strangers. She wanted to get to know us as a couple so that she could design the best cake for us and wow, that she definitely did! We wanted something a little different to fit into our "traditional with a twist, Star Wars wedding". Debbie put forward some fantastic ideas and in the end we came up with a cake that wasn't only delicious but totally unique. I don't think that I would have been more trusting for anyone else to get it right and that all lead back to the first consultation and her true passion for what she does. Debbie is a fantastic person with so much character and isn't afraid to be bold in cake design and has so much attention to detail on not only the cakes but delivering a bespoke service. Her cakes not only look like masterpieces but they taste out of this world too!! I cannot recommend her enough!!

Debbie was amazing from start to finish! A three tier autumnal cake for our autumn wedding. Based on a lovely rural area where I grew up and later showed my then future wife, who was also loved the setting. The creative and fantastic result, not only looked amazing but tasted gorgeous. Happily, we saved some in our freezer!!

Debbie has just done our cake for our wedding at the weekend and we were absolutely delighted with the results. She did us a log themed cake to go with our rustic theme and it was the talk of the whole day, people thought it wasn't a real cake until we actually cut into it. We had lemon on top and chocolate on the bottom tier and both tasted amazing. Even when we went to visit her to talk plans she knew exactly what we wanted and it turned out better than I expected. Debbie was the savior of our wedding!!! 5 +++ star service. A matter of weeks before our big day the unthinkable happened and we lost our cake maker who had been booked for over a year (another story!). I contacted Debbie with little hope she would be able to help us, but I was wrong. This lovely lady bent over backwards for us and helped calm and settle my tears that first day. From then one she was a star. At our first meeting with her we ran over what we had wanted in our previous design, we had to compromise on nothing. She could make our dream cake and in fact came up with suggestions and ideas that far surpassed the first design. She was warm and friendly and we chatted for ages, all her cake flavours were delicious too. She kept in constant contact up to the big day and delivered what was an absolutely show stopping cake, which helped form the centerpiece to our wedding. We can not thank Debbie enough for what she did for us and I would recommend her 100% to any future bride and groom. I will certainly be using her for celebration cakes in the future, Debbie you are an angel.... A very special lady!
