Popped in for a quick drink on a Friday night. Despite it being busy, the bar staff were very kind and generous with their time, providing local knowledge and advice. Beautiful pub, clean and well run with what looked like great food! Thanks guys x

Really lovely pub which allows children and dogs in. We took the kids for some food and it was absolutely brilliant. The kids really enjoyed it and our food was delicious. Even though the staff were really busy they were polite and served us as soon as they were able. We will happily come again, next time we're in the area.

Stayed overnight with our ancient bearded collie and were very well looked after. Room 6 was spacious with a good shower and comfy bed. The sisters who run it were really welcoming. It was wonderful sitting outside, in the square, in the evening sunshine with a chardonnay and a pint of Butty Bach.

We booked a table as we knew Saturday lunchtime would be busy, which it certainly was. We were warmly welcomed and showed to our table. Dogs are very welcome with doggie treats and cosy beds to pamper them with.
Our food order was taken however, one of our party only wanted a desert (cheesecake), which they didn't have. No problem though, as Vicky (the Manager) very kindly popped out to M&S and bought one specially.
The meals portions were enormous and delicious and were great value for money.
Such a lovely atmosphere and super friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble. The Punch House is highly recommended.

Stopped for lunch. Pub grub was tasty and good size portions. Loved the old beams and history of the place.

Bedrooms recently refurbished in this Grade 2 listed building, housekeeping excellent, only you have to use a nearby cafe for Breakfast. The Pub Kitchen offers dinner but the weekend we were there, the Kitchen closed at 7 pm. Large outdoor seating area in paved square to side of pub. Beers well kept and a good selection. Live bands at weekends. 16th Century Monmouth as a town has seen better days, many closed shops, the big houses and estates are snapped up by the wealthy, who use them as second homes, forcing out the young local population. Being Wales, the locals are very friendly and chatty. The local Cinema / Theatre is a joy called the 'Savoy Theatr' (that's how it's spelt in Wales) It been saved from closure an run by a Trust. It needs your financial support if you visit!
