1st time visit and food was exceptional. We arrived early and we're welcomed to our table. Service was pleasant and the staff knowledgeable. The venison stew was outstanding as were the Scallops. Wine was delicious and the ambience was really chilled out. Free Limoncello from the manageress was a lovely touch and would definitely come back if in the area. 10 out of 10. Top quality with everything.
In the middle of Montrose you get better vegan Italian food than in Italy itself... I mean it, I live in Italy...!
Homemade Gnocchi with wild garlic, artichokes, and asparagus.
They have a few more vegan options for both lunch and dinner, and also vegan pudding.
Just delicious, especially eaten in bright sunshine!
We researched Montrose before holidaying there and stumbles across many recommendations for Rae’s, it certainly did not disappoint! It has such a relaxed vibe inside and the lovely lady who served us was very knowledgeable about everything we asked. We expected the food to be good, but wow, it was beyond our expectations entirely! You can really taste the difference with the ingredients being locally sourced, and that really took it to the next level. The oysters were 10/10 and I would return just for those alone! I Highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be holidaying in Montrose again just to visit Rae’s!

We have wanted to visit here for some time and we finally managed it. Well worth the wait and the drive from Perth.
A wonderful menu with locally sourced produce. The presentation was fantastic and the taste blew me away.
Thank you for making my visit a special one.
Highly recommended.
Came here as tourists in the area as a treat.
Tried getting a table at 5-5:30 but they said they're fully booked. Understandable and the lady very kindly helped us by giving us a later reservation and putting aside some dishes we wanted to try.
The entire visit was a taste explosion in out mouth, wishing we had more. Be ready that the food will just make you want to eat more and more, explore it all.
The reason for 4* were the drinks. Ordered a cocktail and a beer but both drinks made us feel a bit disappointed. My partner's beer probably a personal preference rather than a restaurant fault, however my blueberry mojito wasn't stirred through and I couldn't get to the bottom of it properly. Having worked at a bar before, these should be stirred with a cocktail spoon to ensure proper mixture of the rum with soda. Furthermore it didn't taste of blueberries one bit :(
We'll likely return to try more if we're in the area again but I think we'll stear clear from alcoholic drinks as they weren't really up to par as it seemed.
A hidden gem of Montrose. Locally sourced ingredients and a cosy wee vibe. Food was delicious 😋 highly recommend the High Wine Lunch 🍷
Myself and a work colleague met for lunch at Rae’s and we were both very impressed. The food was delicious, service was friendly and prompt, and the meal was good value for the high quality. Would definitely recommend it.
We recently moved to the Montrose area and are currently exploring various restaurants. Restaurant Rae's in Montrose Highstreet is a pleasant surprise. Very good quality food. Way above average, but still at a good price. Can recommend.
I have coeliac disease they take great care with the food and very tasty. Raes have friendly staff and the foods presentation is ace. The venison was delicious!
Delighted to find such a good restaurant in Montrose, by far the best place we have eaten. The food is a whole level above the normal fish & chips or burgers, but it's not remotely pretentious and is nicely affordable.
