Last day of the season. Came for a carvery, with the risk of no meat as we were a tad late. Found plenty to choose from, well presented and well tasty. For those of you wishing to partake, I highly recommend booking ahead. Other food on the regular menu is good, and they have a fine selection of ales (except on the last day of the season!).
Nice pub in the lovely village of Mortehoe. Nice place on a sunny day to watch the village life go by. Nice beers and friendly staff. Didn't sample the food but I know they were busy serving when we visited.
Quaint country pub in a lovely village, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Perfect place to rest up after a long hike. Would definitely visit again!
I've been coming to Mortehoe & Woolacombe for 30 years or more. Not much changes to the eye, but pub food and staff do. Years ago I found The Ship Aground a little quite and lacking in atmosphere but good food and staff were the Chichester Arms had it all. But over the years, specially since Covid. We tried the Chichester Arms and sadly it has lost a lot, the staff were nice. But The Ship Aground has recovered the best. The food was excellent as always and plentiful with a warm and inviting atmosphere which aloud dogs in any part of the pub with excellent staff. Joe was at the bar. He was very courteous and professional with a good interaction with all customers not just me, as we're all staff in the several time, perhaps to many time we spent there on our holiday.
The Sunday carvery was unbelievable, very tasty and filling. The ploughman's excellent.
The chilli loverly
and you won't leave hungry, and all good on the pocket. If you have the weather and sit outside the vistas are pleasant on the eye aswell.
I would highly recommend a visit. With a ten out of ten from me.
Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Very nice old pub that's barely changed in 50 years with nice kind staff and very good food even if it's slightly pricy for standard pub grub.
Sunday carvery. Excellent amount of good food. Staffing issue on the day slightly let the pub down.
We booked a table of 11 here whilst on a large group holiday. The food was delivered to our table piping hot, all together and without a single mistake despite the large order. All of the food was amazing home cooked quality. We were all very impressed. It’s shame we go home tomorrow otherwise we would have gone back! Beer was excellently kept as well. Well done all
Nice carvery had on a busy wet Sunday out of season. The pub was packed and food was good. It was better than a toby carvery but as with all carvery’s some of the veg was colder than we would have liked. Staff were friendly but very busy (possibly short staffed )and therefore not as attentive as they could have been.
Fabulous carvery on a wet Sunday lunch. Get there early to get a seat as its very popular. Great range of meats, veg and exceptional crackling!.... reasonably priced too.👏👏
