Went to the Black Bull for their famous "2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £29.99 on Wednesdays" night.
Fast and courteous service. And my god, the best steak I've ever eaten in my life!!!!
We’ve been coming to the Black Bull for a good ten years when we visit nearby Richmond. The food never disappoints and we’d definitely recommend it.
We went in a Thursday, which was ‘pie night’. The full menu was available but there was a special offer on pies, so the pie meal cost £12 instead of £16 and there were several choices available. Steak and ale was fab.
The only downside on this visit was that the restaurant was completely empty, which was not good to see. We ate by the fire in the lovely bar area instead, which was buzzing.
Vegetarian’s are well catered for and there’s plenty of choice on the menu, with great ale, wine and spirit choices. Service is always warm and efficient. Plenty of parking and a stack of dog beds by the fire.
Hubby & I ate there last week, whilst on holiday. Lovely meal. Pleasant staff and nice modern setting. If this was local to us, we would definitely make regular visits. 😋
I had seabass with a glass of wine,followed by the black forest gateau. Hubby had chicken followed by chocolate mousse.
A nice liqueur coffee and a mocktail rounded it all off.

We ended visitng 3 times this past week as what a great venue! Fabulous food - I cant decide on a favourite between fish and chips, Sunday lunch or the steak and ale pie! The sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever tasted! 👍 Lovely ambience and amazing customer service! Doggy friendly too in the bar 🐾

Beautiful interior and bigger than anticipated from the outside. I've been past here many times but have never been inside. Staff were brilliant especially with our little boy, nothing was a problem and they went above and beyond. Wonderful experience and delicious food too, I got Duck Spring Rolls for starter which were beautiful, Steak and Ale Pie which was delicious and also the Sticky Toffee Pudding, again highly recommended. Wonderful experience in a beautiful place too!
Superb meal. Did a two hour hike in the moors and came here for lunch after. Went for the chefs special of 3 fish. Monkfish, Salmon and king prawns. Lovely sauce, tasty spinach and a great pint to wash it down. The food was spectacular and was a complete surprise. Didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Will be coming back for sure. Kudos to the chef.
Where to start....food / drinks excellent...staff excellent, attentive and efficient. Setting excellent. Prices, seemed cheap to me all things considered, no dearer than all the regular standard pubs in this area. Well done and keep it up. One other thing is the place and facilities are spotless. Definitely be back when in this area....
We had Sunday lunch here, with relatives, whilst visiting the area. It was a lovely lunch. The staff were friendly and it was a good atmosphere
Impeccable 5* service. Really felt like we were important people. Food was divine each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour.
Great dining pub/restaurant. Food great, service excellent all staff very friendly. 60th Wedding Anniversary so we booked James Herriot room for 22 diners. Will call again and maybe an annual event. Many thanks to Mel Lyndsey and all the team
Had a great dinner here a few days ago! Highly recommend booking - especially given limited seating outdoors.
Had the asian duck salad & chicken terrine to start - my partner & I both preferred the duck over the terrine (really lovely flavors). I then had the Thai hake with prawn dumplings & sweet potato mash (really flavorful & filling) & my partner had the ribeye which he really enjoyed.
We ended with the rhubarb possy (I didn't prefer it but my partner did) & the chocolate fondant (apparently their most popular - & I enjoyed it).
We'd definitely come back - great service & food.
