Visited the Thatch & Thistle twice this week for meals while working in the area.
We ordered on the Greene King app which worked a treat, was not in a rush so rather than stand at the bar - let us chat and chill while the drinks and food came to use when ready.
On one day I had the steak with peppercorn sauce, and the other the chicken skewers mix with fries and side salad on peppers. Both meals served perfectly - and thoroughly enjoyed them.
The guy who came and brought the order over was quick and friendly, service with a smile! Much appreciated.
Only thing that leads to confusion, and hope I'm fine as kept the receipts anyway just in-case is all the signs warning about parking fines. Which I know it needs so we can park there, but the machine to register number plate was out of order on both days. The lady at the bar said it's okay - but does leave a bit of a dread to think if they post a fine anyway.
Could do with it looking at, or a formal sign we can take a photo of just in-case the parking vultures come after us. This is the only point that took it down to 4* from what otherwise would be 5*.

Busy, lots of children literally running around and no one speaking to the parents even though I have heard lots of people complaining to staff about it.
Food is good, but the steak was well done and we've asked for medium rare.
Overall a good experience.
Free parking as long as you sign on the tablet at the entrance.
Really good relaxing atmosphere. Good food, fish and chips especially. My steak and ale pie was tasty but just a little overcooked. Staff were as always very pleasant and everything was clean. One of my favourite places for a quick cheap meal. With two main meals for only £11.99 you can’t go wrong. Also soft drinks at a realistic price.
Waiting time was ok, food came fresh and hot . £26 for 2 of these with 2 sausage with gravy & mash and veggie sticks to start which came with lettuce. 2 pints of coke and a fruit shoot for baby. Burger wasn’t burnt , neither was the chicken .
Oh WOW! This place is AMAZING! I came here with my fantastic tattooed friend Ben. He had a coke as he had been playing darts the night before and had got smashed. I had 2 slimline tonic waters as I am on slimming world and a pint of Stella also. The tables are clean and there is loads of sport on the televisual entertainers. The car park is awesome, but remember to take a picture of your registration for the computer machine on the inside that allows you to park here. On my visit, the computer machine was out of order, but the picture I took will stand me in good stead should I ever require it in the future. Full marks to the staff; they are friendly, helpful and are very competent in their delivery of two slimline tonics and a pint of Stella. I will be back!
Food good quality, I had scampi and chips with sweet peas and tartar sauce, all from freezer though good quality, husband had fish chips peas and tartar sauce, beer batter fish large potion very tasty, chip peas from frozen though tasty. Bottle white house wine cup of tea Bill just over £21 so extreme good value. Would recommend for a lunch or evening meal children welcome.
Me & husband called in for a lunch treat. Found a table and ordered at the bar with a lovely young lady. 2 x steak & ale pie, chips, mushy peas & extra gravy a pt John smiths & a mocha only £17 bargain. Drinks came quickly followed by the food. Excellent service. The food was piping hot & really tasty would definitely recommend
A nice enough pub with good food (for the price you pay). We had the Ultimate Big Combo to share, which is a good price at £9.99 for what we get. We finished it up with Chocolate Fudge Cake for my partner and Millionaire’s Cheesecake for me. Both were thoroughly enjoyed!
A first time visit to the Thatch and Thistle, a lovely pub in a nice setting with friendly staff. The service was prompt, kind and helpful with lovely food at good value prices. We'll be back!
Sunday breakfast hit the spot. Nice and peaceful cosy corner was found. Placed order at the bar with pleasant lady member of staff. Drinks were served quickly, food soon followed. 1 full breakfast, jammy toast + two pots of tea all for circa £12.
