Had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine- over looked by the Abbey. Enjoying our meal, looks a nice tearoom inside also. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice gift shop at front of the building too.

Pleasant tea rooms right next to the Abbey ruins. Run independently and open at times when the Abbey's closed. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and also a small gift shop too. We stopped here for lunch after climbing Criffel. It was a midweek lunch time and so fairly quiet. We were served quickly by friendly staff and the food was good. We had home made soup of the day (courgette and carrot), which was particularly delicious and served with very tasty seeded bread, and a vegetarian haggis panini. We had a freshly made lime and coconut scone afterwards which had good flavour but could have done with a better rise. Overall a pleasant tea rooms and gift shop with friendly service and tasty food.

First visit here and we had a lovely time. Afternoon tea for two, a treat from our son. Good choice of freshly made sandwich. Beautiful warm scones with jam and cream. Finished off with delicious coffee cake and a pot of tea. The lady who served us was so lovely and friendly. Offered to take our photo so we could send it to our son. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit. We would highly recommend a visit here. We will be back very soon.

August 2021: What a lovely little restaurant/cafe set right next to the remains of the abbey. After a half day climbing up and down Criffel it's the perfect place for a refreshing tea and scones. I have been here three times, it never disappoints.

Had lunch here today, on entering the staff showed us which tables were available and suggested one where we could view the Abbey from the window. I had a brie and bacon pannini and asked for the bacon to be crispy and when it arrived it was done perfectly. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. It was a lovely lunch and we will come again when next in the area.

While visiting friends in Dumfries we came across this lovely cafe. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Lovely staff and service. Our food was really nice. Only had haggis a couple of times and the Haggis panini was lovely. Would visit again next time we are in the area.

We stumbled across this lovely place the day after our wedding in July 2017. Best scones I've ever tasted! Best cream I've ever tasted, best butter and jam I've ever tasted too! Darn good coffee as well. 😁 I remember that it was so nice to sit outside and enjoy our food tea and coffee. Beautiful surroundings and the old Sweetheart Abbey is quite impressive. We have a bit of a drive from South Ayrshire but we can't wait to come back here. I'm already checking my calendar as I see you're opening on the 16th of February? 😃 ● UPDATE: September 2020. I was wondering if the tearoom would reopen after the lock down. I'm glad it did. And the scones are just as good as I remember. I love this place. ● UPDATE: December 2020. Definitely my favourite place to come to for a lunch or a tea and a cake. Baked potato with vegetarian haggis is my favourite at the moment - and I'm not even a vegetarian. I like that haggis has just the right amount of heat in it. And yes, the scones are still to die for! ● UPDATE: May 2021. I was thinking to myself that I have to get a hold of the recipe for these scones as I'm becoming a bit fanatical about them 😉. However, it's not all about the food, is it? Well, the food plays the biggest part and believe me it is great, but it's also about the surroundings which are beautiful, the tearoom is lovely, the staff are always pleasant. The whole experience is a treat and I like it this way. Plus, I like to support locals and their business as much as I can, especially in these difficult times just now. Thank you for keeping this tearoom open and for cooking for us.

A fantastic little tearoom serving home made cakes, sandwiches and light lunches. The prices are competitive, the room clean and the food tasty. The staff are helpful, friendly and efficient. It can get busy but that is because it is dersvedly popular
