I've eaten here twice and both times the food was delicious, good tea, and the service was fast and friendly. The prices are reasonable. The location is great but the outside seating is a bit uncomfortable.
The menu has a good selection of food and drinks including some vegetarian dishes but no vegan options. Inside there's a good selection of cakes which all look delicious.
A beautiful old building, delicious coffee (we'll have tea another day), delightful food and home baked cakes and scones! My smoked salmon pasta was delicious.
What an amazing gem! We came for tea, coffee, and cakes and it was a beautiful historic atmosphere (especially upstairs), great service, and really large portions of both cakes and tea. Very lovely spot.

4 star for pretty, service and location. Shame it’s not clotted cream to go with scones and jam. But it’s worth the sit down here to enjoy its charm and watch the world go by as it over looks the market square.
Visited the tea rooms when the weather was scorching, so the outside seating was perfect. It is in a courtyard so sheltered from the wind and a nice little sun trap. The food was nice, and good sized portions. Waiting staff were lovely and really helpful. Only faults were the drinks were a little pricey for what they were and the way management were talking to and treating their staff was not great. Was embarrassing to hear them talk so rudely to their staff, and a bit uncomfortable to witness.
The Old Bakery is a lovely building full of history and character. It’s a very popular place so you can often be waiting for a table. However we have been lucky a few times to have breakfast and lunches. The breakfasts use a lovely thick cut bread. The staff are always friendly and give service with a smile.
Situated in a historical building this compact tearoom has plenty of character. It has two floors and you have to wait to be seated as it's very busy. The food was very tasty and there was a wide selection on the menu. The food was freshly cooked. Would definitely visit again!
This place never lets us down, been a number of times and always brilliant, service is great, excellent at the little touches, food lovely, cakes amazing and reasonable priced. No where else I’d go for lunch when we visit Newark.
Weather was nice, so we sat outside to eat. The food was good and plentiful. The tea rooms are located in a nice part of the town just off the main square.
What a lovely place and our breakfast was amazing. We will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend it
