Bit off a mixed bag, really. We went for lunch, that's me, my wife and my parents who are in their eighties. The service from ordering to the food arriving on the table was very slow, although it's a big venue it wasn't overly crowded. I asked for a medium rare stake and got a well-done one. But as I was hungry, I ate it. My mum had fish and chips, and, at first sight, it looked nice and we all commented on the huge size of the fish. But when she attempted to cut into it. The batter was very hard. And despite looking huge, had a very small amount of fish inside. My mum mentioned this to the barmen, who, to be fair, sorted complimentary deserts for the whole table.
The place is nice and clean with plenty of T V screens if you are a sports fan. And it boasts an impressive looking beer garden.
The toilets are clean and not smelly. I always find this a bonus. They also have a radar toilet.
We called in the Old Post Office for lunch on Saturday. We ordered our food and drinks at the bar. Three meals and drinks for £25. Reasonable prices and reasonable portions. The food was well presented and the staff were friendly and very helpful. A very enjoyable experience.
Nice, warm and clean restaurant in Newark. Like wetherspoon. Good for family with kids.
