Spotted Dog

First time visiting the Spotted Dog. The pub was recommended by a friend and always raved about the Sunday roast, so a group of 10, Adults and children had to try it out! It was a last minute booking for a big group, and there was no hesitation in accomodating us. The service was great! All the staff were so polite and tentative and most importantly the Roast was enjoyed by everyone! Not a peep out of anyone whilst we were chowing down. The food came out hot and there was enough gravy to go around without having to ask for more. A perfect portion of everything on our plates. I do wish I had ordered the sticky toffee pudding as that was really really delicious. I instead ordered the lemon meringue, and my only criticism is that it wasn't lemony enough for me. Others who ordered it liked it, so it is really down to preference. The kids got to enjoy the playground too under the glorious autumn sun so all in all, everyone had a lovely afternoon. Stopped off for lunch on Saturday. We both had the beef pie which was homemade. I also had cheesecake, again homemade. It was nice to have a pub that serves good pub grub. We were well looked after by Lisa and Abbie. They don't add service charge to their bill but I made sure to add that because they deserved it.

Very friendly staff and there was a lively atmosphere. Reasonable choice of food and well cooked, for the most part. My only quibble was the chips! They were just mass-produced bottom of the range fare. Such a shame when there is so much more choice widely available these days. But because we were made so welcome, I'll probably return.

Our family came here on Saturday evening, for a birthday meal for my husband. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. All our meals were hot and plentiful too! Vanilla cheesecake was amazing. We were a party of eight and we were served quickly and with no complaints. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We were tucked away from the main bar area so it was ideal for us noisy lot!! Plenty of car parking space and some near entrance which is ideal. Highly recommended.

Nice friendly pub with a good atmosphere, beer garden and small children's playground. Went for Sunday lunch. The menu had been reviewed prior to booking so that it was compatible with my nephews food preferences, and selected over other establishments on that basis. When we arrived, the menu was different from the one online, and being quite limited, meaning that lunch was a more difficult affair. When the food arrived, it was very nice. I had the roast chicken, followed by syrup sponge pudding and ice-cream. Chicken was quite nice. The sponge pudding was luke warm and dry, having clearly been microwaved or steamed for not nearly long enough, so that was a bit disappointing. Hence the 4 stars.
