We were recommended this place for a Sunday Roast dinner by couple we'd just met and were not disappointed! The food tastes as good as it looks, the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. It's a lovely location near The Chase, perfect to visit after a Sunday stroll 😁
My husband chose this pub/B&B for the large car park! We were attending an event nearby, and this was reasonably priced as well.
The room was clean, comfortable, and had air conditioning!
We didn't have the breakfast, purely because it wasn't served early enough for what we needed, so they took some money off for us instead.
But the main thing I'd recommend this pub for is the evening meals.
The mains weren't over priced, and were decent sized portios. Proper "pub grub"

Mid week family birthday lunch - very pleasant staff and good food. We had brought a birthday cake with us which they were happy to serve with coffee. We hadn't noticed but our bill was wrong, they came out with a refund for us and apologised.
Sunday lunch was fantastic! Very generous portions and very tasty. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming and staff very pleasant.
I will definitely come again.
We came here for a vacation and to visit the nearby Watership Down. It was a lovely experience. The staff is very nice and helpful and the atmosphere in the inn was impressive. The food was good and always came in large portions.
Only with the rooms you should consider, that with three people it is very crammed and you don't have much space for yourself. But this is just a minor complaint.
All in all I can recommend this inn if you need a place to stay when you are near Newbury.
Stopped here for a Sunday roast after a shopping trip in Basingstoke. The food was amazing and huge portions. Even the kids ate theirs and even had pudding - too quickly for photos! Set in lovely surroundings too.
Location is spot on for being out of the hustle n bustle .
Breakfast was fantastic one of the best iv had
Service is excellent the landlady is truly a legend knows the place inside out knows how to communicate knows how to manage the business knows what is right for the business knows how to make the customer feel at home

We used this place to break up journey from Newhaven to ‘up north’. We had a friendly welcome from the manager and then had a great evening meal at a very reasonable price. Great choice of drinks. Friendly waiting staff. Fully recommend this place and would call back if ever passing. Thanks.
Lovely B&B big rooms, walk in shower and aircon. We hadn’t realised breakfast finished at 9am when we rocked up at 09.45 but the owner was really kind and still gave us a cooked breakfast. Highly recommend
Amazing location in the country, great food, cozy atmosphere. Sunday roast was outstanding! Kids Sunday roast with chicken and sticky toffee pudding were amazing!
