A friendly independent Italian restaurant. Really recommend the mussels starter. Fabulous. Margherita pizza for example £7.95 so reasonable. Good choice of menu. Would visit again.

We were here last year and the food was outstanding so decided to go back again on Monday. We weren’t disappointed food was delicious and your staff were once again first class. Will definitely be back 👍

Three of us had lunch there on a Sunday. There’s a set Sunday lunch but we chose off the menu. My husband had chicken with a blue cheeses sauce whilst our granddaughter and I had shellfish risotto. The food was very nice but my husbands chips were exceptionally good. There was a lot of them and we helped him out! Our granddaughter avoids anything fried and I don’t like chips but we both enjoyed them. They were twice or thrice fried I think. We had a couple of bottles of Italian La Barbera which was surprisingly lovely as we usually find Italian wines rather thin. We were eating there because our granddaughter loves Italian food. It got rather busy over the lunchtime. It’s a small and intimate restaurant. The service was good without being intrusive. The toilets are in the basement and while the “Ladies” was fine my husband found that the “Gents” had water dripping from its ceiling! As it’s on Dean street, parking is metered although there are car parks within walking distance.

Fantastic little Italian restaurant just off the Tyne, excellent menu, the food and service were faultless and the price very reasonable for the quality. Of course any Italians who choose to leave the climate of Italy and swop it for Geordie land must be very dedicated.................................

I have regularly visited this restaurant over the past 14 months and the food and service has always been excellent. Business or social be it lunchtime, late afternoon or evening the food and service in particular has always been superb. Switched the works Christmas party to Topolino restaurant and everyone was highly impressed including the Vegetarian/vegan members of the party.

4 of us Visited on Friday lunch time expecting it to be bustling due to all of the good reviews. There was only 1 other table occupied and we were seated at the back of the restaurant where it was cold with overbearing music playing an international radio station. After being seated for 15 mins I had to go to ask the waiter if we could order drinks. He was the only one serving in the restaurant. The food overall was ok with big portions but the lack of atmosphere/ambience, temperature and loud inappropriate radio let the place down. Maybe evenings are better as most of the reviews reflect evenings but I’ll not be returning to find out.

Saturday night meal, it was very busy when we arrived but we were early so quick drink at the bar. Relaxed service, didn’t rush us to order even though they were so busy they were turning people away. You need to book for this place as it seems popular, food is fantastic but it is only small so make sure you get a table reserved and enjoy your evening!

My wife and I had not booked a table but managed to get one about 6.30pm on a Saturday night. The service was first class from walking through the door to us leaving. We had two courses which were perfectly presented, cooked and it tasted perfect. We took advice from a waiter on the red wine which we enjoyed. This is a first class restaurant one which we will definitely re visit and recommend to friends and family.

Very good genuine Italian food in good portions with friendly service. I had bruschetta as a starter, which might do between two for smaller appetites. It was, as it should be, juicy and rich tomato topping on crunchy bread. Mains of spicy prawns on a skewer were succulently fresh prawns, nicely spiced and plenty of them, served with well judged vegetables and some of the best rosemary potatoes I've ever had. Definitely one to revisit.

Second time visiting this restaurant when we've been down visiting Newcastle and it was first class once again, from the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left, I couldn't fault a single thing. Lovely wee traditional Italian restaurant, staff are really friendly and chatty. Food again was outstanding, portions are huge also! I had the pate (homemade) that comes with lovely thick cut toast, then I had the lasagne as a main and it was delicious. Everyone's dishes were amazing as we all tried each others. Pasta Contadina next time for me though which is pasta with slices of fillet steak and in a sauce not dissimilar to stroganoff?? Father had this and it was to die for!! Already trying to plan another weekend down to Newcastle just so we can visit Topolino again!

We met friends here for lunch on my recommendation, and a superb lunch it was too. My bruschetta was so filling and delicious, as were all our starters. Our mains likewise, tasty, fresh and piping hot, thoroughly enjoyed by each one of us. A really relaxing lunch with nice wine, and attentive staff who were there when we needed them. Finished with coffee to complete the occasion. I had no doubt that our friends would enjoy our regular lunch meeting, this time at Topolino. So much so that we agreed to a return visit sometime soon, thanks to the chef and staff who made it all so pleasurable. Meraviglioso

Heard good reviews so decided to give it a try one Saturday afternoon. Staff were very friendly and professional, good atmosphere and nice traditional decor. Two adults chose off the set menu and had garlic mushrooms and bruschetta for a starter which were delicious. Mains were a pizza and a carbonara which were equally good. Daughter had ricotta and asparagus ravioli which she really enjoyed and we also had a meal from the kids menu. Definitely worth a visit.
