Went here for our wedding anniversary. Service was excellent. Food was very delicious indeed - we love tapas-style sharing so it suited us perfectly. Nice wine. Espresso and trio of desserts at the end was a real treat. £88 for two of us which we felt was very reasonable for the whole experience. Would recommend.

Really enjoyed our outing to the French Quarter. Excellent service, especially from Oli who was attentive throughout. The creme brûlée is a must have! We will be back soon.

My partner and I had an after-film birthday supper here. It was our first visit. All the staff were great - attentive and interested. Lovely food - amazing cheese, need to come back when we’re not driving to sample the wines!

The staff are extremely knowledgable about their dishes and happy to offer their advice without having to nip to the kitchen. The food is amazing with good sized portions. About six dishes is enough for two.

I dropped in on spec during restaurant week and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and helpful, even though the place was full. The atmosphere was buzzing with a very authentic feel and the food was delicious. Love the small plate approach - great for a group or to give a lone diner like me a chance to try more than one dish. Will be back asap!

First visit & wont b the last. We were acknowledged almost immediately & given a lovely table in the restaurant which is not oversized but I really like the quirky French feel it has. The food was not overgenerous in portions however that was a good thing as we felt we had eaten just enough of the delicious food served. I will be back here again.

Was looking for a French restaurant for a birthday trip and came across the French Quarter. Food was awesome! Ordered pretty much the whole menu! Favourites were the beef bourguignon, French onion soup and the steak. Prices very reasonable and for 2 with drinks and desert came to around £100 but we left unable to eat another morsel. Would definitely return!

My wife and i fancied some mussels and came across this fantastic French restaurant. The menu is really simple in that it is French tapas offering a chance to try a number of different dishes and every dish was superb!! The restaurant is busy so would advise to book and we were greeted with a very warm welcome and they advised on how many dishes to go for and when we ordered they would also commented if any dishes would clash.. The wine menu was excellent and i also liked the offering where you can buy three different wines to try with the various dishes. We loved the atmosphere and it is a really relaxing and comfortable environment and a great concept. The service offered by both the lady and gentlemen (sorry forgot the names) was excellent and we will be going back when we next visit Newcastle just wish this was in Harrogate it would go down a treat!!

Rachel and Mike were excellent hosts, with extremely timely service, good advice, and pleasant smiles. Great quality of service, this is a restaurant which understands how to give a goo customer experience. Delicious food and good wine. Thank you!

My wife and I went at the start of restaurant week. Having wanted to visit the place for some time I rang and reserved a table . I was asked if I had been before I hadn't , I was then offered a table in the window with a high chair I thought it sounded lovely but it wasn't, the table is a plank of wood running along the window very little room on it & you literally are staring out of the window. The food I had the pate to start mussels & chips for my main . They were both ok but I have had larger mussel starters let along classing it as a main . My wife had the bruschetta the worst she's had she had the lamb as a main & thought it very average . We went left the restaurant week menu for desert as there was nothing we fancied & both had a different cheese from the main menu the portion size was ridiculously small & no biscuits ... thankfully the lovely waitress gave us some bread. Cost we had a one G &T & a bottle of red (£23) total bill just under £80 .The place its self has a nice atmosphere , may be we picked the wrong things but I won't be going back there are too many other good places to eat.

This is a little restaurant that offers tapas like options. One plate could be between £6 to £9 and to have a substantial meal you will need to order 2 to 3 plates per person. As me and my boyfriend arrived, the waiter Michael greeted us and told us about the dishes since we never been before. There is a really big selection of wines and many vegetarian options. The food was delicious and the service good. Michael was really attentive and professional. Would recommend!

We visited on a Saturday evening, we'd called in earlier in the day to book a table but they were fully booked. We were told we'd be welcome to eat at the bar if there was space available. Luckily for us a couple had left just as we arrived. Food was great, service was good and the wine was excellent. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to friends.

We recently dined here for a friends birthday after hearing a few recommendations. The praise was justified - lovely food, original menu and the restaurant gets the balance between fine dining and relaxing perfect. The staff are great and take time to enhance the experience by engaging with diners. I'll be back.

So pleased my husband and I booked a table at this restaurant. We were having a two night break in Newcastle and had heard good reviews about it. From the moment we went in the staff were friendly and so helpful with the menu and wine choices. As for the food, it was superb, from lovely garlicy camembere cheese with crusty bread to perfectly cooked beef and pork dishes full of flavour. Wine was excellent, great choice of both red and white. Cant wait to return.

Visited on a saturday night at 21:00. Busy but service still fine. I am vegetarian and food was excellent. My husband has the monkfish skewers which were so not worth it. 2 small bits fish for £8.. This was only negative. Staff were fab, food excellent, ambiance was great. Just don't bother with expensive tiny monkfish.

My wife and I were recommended this restaurant by a friend - it was even better than described. The food was superb, as was the wine and service. We will be returning.

I stumbled across this little gem of a bistrot/ wine bar when staying over in Newcastle on business (Wednesday 8 January 2020). A warm welcome form the lovely staff all augured well and the food and wine combination was first rate.

Having walked past this place a few times I finally visited last night, and was not disappointed. The food is french, but the concept is not - the idea being that you order a number of 'small' plates (not a 'formule' in sight!). In reality what this means is that you order everything including vegetables, bread etc. separately - so the price does mount up a little, but at around £50 per person (including wine) this still comes through at reasonable value. The food is good - not outstanding, but competantly done (on the whole). Nice charcuterie, good bread, fish perfectly cooked and excellently garlicky beans. One off note was the tarte-tatin - tough pastry that was just frankly past it. This would have dropped this to a 3* review, but overall the meal was thoroughly enhanced by the service which was warm, friendly and not overly attentive. Final mention must go to the wine, which is well sourced and very reasonably priced - the owners know what they are doing! Vive la Quartier Francais!
