Such a cosy place! Friendly staff and fantastic food, the brewed coffee is excellent as well as the club sandwich (brown toasted bread, chicken, lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon and mayonnaise, delicious). My favourite place to have lunch in Jesmond!
Very friendly place staff are amazing food is absolutely gorgeous well worth a visit
Staff very welcoming, food was excellent, decor was really unusual and lovely, dogs allowed here. Gluten free options available. Very popular. It is in the student area of Jesmond.
Tables are a collection of different things, like and old school desk, or sewing machine stand.
A very enjoyable experience.
Best vegetarian breakfast I’ve ever had! My boyfriend also found the standard Full English equally impressive. Such fantastic ingredients paired with generous portions. I am a visitor to the area and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast in such a cosy place.
Visited following a recommendation while in Newcastle and I can wholeheartedly say that the food is outstanding. Pricing initially looks a little on the expensive side but once you're served your meal and dig in it's worth every penny.
The full English Hash was the best breakfast I've ever had. A must visit for anyone serious about good food.
There’s a few of the Caffe 1901’s around but this is the one for brunch. Good if you want a nice quality safe and traditional brunch option.
The menu choices are standard. Didn’t have any problems with the full english. I added halloumi which was great. The breakfast brioche was tasty.
There can be a bit of a queue on the weekend but it’s cosy inside so the queue moves quite quickly.
At first glance from the sign outside I thought it was just a tea and cake room so I did a Google search for a full English in the area and this place came up.... result as we were stood outside. Went in and asked and they said "yep we do breakfast all day" Perfect! So I ordered a double espresso, pot of tea and a full English. Wow wee all of it was the best quality, tasty and well presented, I was pleasantly surprised and what a random find! I love the quirky decor of the restaurant and there was a nice buzz and atmosphere. Easily a 10* but Google will only let me give it 5 either way top marks 💯
Excellent brunch place! The food was super tasty and we really liked the decor inside. The 1901 salad was huge with a generous round of warmed goats cheese. The 1901 breakfast brioche was yummy, good quality ingredients made for a delicious sarny.
Be prepared to queue but worth the wait.
The only downside was that it was cold inside on a cold day but the food and drinks made up for that.
It was really cold in Newcastle and we found this bistro in jesmond inside a church. Really nice building and plenty of space inside with high ceilings.
I loved how it was decorated. The cakes and sweet shelves were impressing for the size and variety.
We could sit down in a wooden table in a corner from were we could see the interior easily, the bar and other customers, most of them students because the area is full of them.
They serve food and coffee+cake at any time, closing at five thirty in the evening.
We really enjoyed this visit but I didn't like to pay for and alternative milk +£0.60 on this days were climate change is so important and animal rebelión is on the news, milk should be at the same price, cow, coconut, almond or soja and in students areas like this one.
The prices were a bit high in general.
They do an extensive range of really nice breakfast and lunch dishes. This includes the standard issue eggs Benedict. Which looks lovely. There's some stuff with avocado. Yuk!
It does get busy. Arrive early to not have to queue. The queue does get long. You've been warned.
All on one level including the toilets, so very wheelchair friendly. They also have a disabled toilet.
The service is good. But they do look sick of their lives.
They do take out and have an awesome selection of cakes.
Visited here for the first time last week after a recommendation. Lovely place! Lovely staff! Great decor and vibe. Fantastic menu that also caters very well for vegans, we had the breakfast butties (one meat one vegan) they were superb. Also dog friendly 😊
Far exceeded our expectations. Set in an old church, creditable coffees, friendly staff and excellent breakfast and lunch menus. Well executed plates of food. Many gluten free options (sausages & bread) spicy Shakshuka with good Merguez, Full English had very tasty bacon & bangers. Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast with the grandkids. Would recommend.
