A wonderful little find a short distance from the Riverside and Newcastle Central Station.
Very busy bar, standing room only for us. Fabulous atmosphere offering a wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including some local brews.
The toilets are located downstairs.
If you like stained glass, do have a look around at the scenes depicting the traditional trade of the area. Directly opposite, you'll find Newcastle Keep and part of the old castle walls, castle well, and the Castle Stairs. I suspect the way to do the stairs is down and not up as we did!!
We've been coming to Newcastle for the last year and the Bridge Hotel has become one of our favourite pubs. They always have on a big selection of ales and ciders, and the bar staff are happy to let you try samples till you find something you like.
There is always music on are reasonable volumes and sport on the TVs but not too much to take away from the pub atmosphere.
Great pub, goid beers and full of atmosphere.
Always love it in here, really cosy atmosphere and amazing fire. Have a great selection for beers, ciders (love the Sea Cider) and spirits too. Highly recommend a visit. Popular with all ages and ranges which is lovely to see 😊
Good selection of beers, great service. Not currently showing sky sports (Sep '23), so something to be aware of if you're looking for that. Great views of the castle.
Really authentic pub feel, with a wonderful stained glass waiting to add to the charm. A dozen bees I had never heard of (which is a great thing for me) and got to try a couple of superb IPAs. Not a contest with the much evolved and high powered offerings of the Pacific Northwest, but an interesting and very tasty take on the hazy. Super friendly bar man was happy to let us taste a couple to help with the decision making process.
Proper old school boozer where you can literally feel the history of the place.
Excellent beers too.
Here to see great Jazz band - Strictly Smokin' Big Band. Great evening all round as part of the Newcastle Jazz Festival. Good selection of beers and wines. Great location.
One of my favourite pubs in Newcastle the beer is kept in pristine condition on this stuff I always very friendly and helpful love going there thank you
Good selection of beers. Had the ubiquitous bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale. Games club was in full swing when I visited on a Tuesday. Studenty vibe. Beautiful heritage building and interiors. Worth a visit especially if visiting Newcastle Castle next door.
