Visited this beautiful medieval cathedral while on a short trip to Newcastle. It's close to the castle and has a tall lantern tower that for many centuries must have been a welcome sight to both travellers on land and sailors out on the river. The cathedral is free to enter, and I found it not only architecturally impressive but also very welcoming and inclusive. While I was here, visitors were invited to join in a short prayer, and there was some lovely organ music to listen to as I walked around. Enjoyed watching the video timeline, and there were interpretation boards outlining the cathedral's long and fascinating history. The wood carving in the choir stalls and the magnificent marble reredos behind the altar are so intricate in their detail, and there are also interesting old tombs and memorials, and some lovely stained glass, some of it medieval. There are toilets and a café where you can get light refreshments. I also enjoyed my walk along the churchyard trail, surrounded by the grand old buildings of the city. Well worth spending some time here.
the Cathedral is very different from those I've been before... when you go, you will see what I mean... it's very human oriented no matter what you are doing in your life and how much money you have.... when there is no Mass, they have activities for the kids, tourists wandering inside & outside; there is a Cafe 16 inside, they have cakes baked by prisoners; they have meetings with the people having problems with alcohol or drugs ... It's like a new chance ... I was surprised to see two homeless men sleeping on the floor in the corner of the Cathedral. What you wouldn't see anywhere else... Iooked like so many good things happening in one place...
First time here, amazing cathedral. Lovely stained glass windows. So quiet and peaceful, you wouldn't think that you were in the centre of Newcastle
One of the most iconic Cathedral’s in United Kingdom. Very beautiful and timelessly elegant. Loved it

I am amazed by the structure. I never thought I will this for real 🫢🫢🫢 But indeed this is surreal 😊
Because we went there late, we were not able to explore each corner of the cathedral. Anyhow, I will comeback in the bear future for it.
I visit this cathedral every week as it is only three mile from my home. It is beautiful and serene,. There are always events taking place and it hosts activities for everyone. It has an amazing program of social inclusion and outreach to other faiths and religions.
Real, working church full of life. Events were evident, modern highlights and windows. Also beautifully traditional yet intimate. Really nice space. Quite a surprise.
Beautiful cathedral. We were visiting from the States and we love visiting churches. We enjoyed breakfast at their cafe.
Great historical place with good variety of ancient relics and sculptures. Architecturally astounding and has free entry for visitors.
Must visit if you visit Newcastle and like historical architecture. Let the photos do the rest!
