Myself and my friend are two young professionals who were eager for a weekend stay in Newcastle- a city we had not yet ventured to before. We browsed air b&b and found an inviting advertisement regarding a central apartment above the Dun Cow. Upon arrival we were greeted with a gloriously decorated apartment with every facility I could have hoped for - something I wouldn’t have expected for such a highly affordable apartment. We had a great evening and tonight have ventured down to the Dun Cow pub- not only did we receive great service from the staff including Gary the manager, but we also enjoyed a delightful meal. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were satisfied. Would highly recommend- wonderful weekend stay!
Squirrelled away behind Clayton Street this place could be easily missed - but you shouldn't if you can help it. I got blown in out of the cold North wind and received the warmest of welcomes from both manager and chef alike. The cozy atmosphere matched the welcome - recently refurbished, there are snug booths, a restaurant area and a conservatory which leads out onto a fairy-lit beer garden. The food was delicious - mussels in a creamy sauce, freshly baked toasted bread and home cooked peppered fries - and a HUGE winter carb-laden portion it was too. This place is one of those hidden gems which someone else normally tells me about but this time I am gifting to you. You're welcome. :-)
Delicious Father's Day traditional Sunday Roast. It was my first ever English roast with all the trimmings - I couldn't decide on what meat to get so settled on the trio of meat. And of course added dessert too - a mouthwatering sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream. All washed down with a baby pint of Dun Cow's own ale.
Such a great meal and fabulous family atmosphere.
Food was great, service was friendly, and it fulfilled my bucket list item of a proper English roast.
A nice looking bar! I fired down two turbo beers on an early Saturday lunchtime whilst passing by. This is not a place I'll hit regularly because it's some way off my beaten path. However, the visit was absolutely fine. There's a good (heated) beer garden if it's mild enough, a pool table and conservatory out the back plus quite decent seating areas inside.
The best Sunday lunch ever.
Opted for the prawn cocktail started and turkey with all the trimmings for a festive main. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was clearly fresh and so well put together. The place was surprisingly quiet but it is out of the way (free parking) indoor and outdoor seating and topped with a cosy yet modern interior. Hoped to have room for desert but was defeated by the size of the main. Maybe next time. Cheap for food and drinks and they have an amazing selection of both spirits (all the gins 😍) and beer! We will be back soon and would recommend to check this lovely place out x
Great local pub. Fine selection of beers and cocktails. Comfortable seats, a pool table and lots of outside seating for warm days. I ordered a Peroni which was perfect. Two of my daughters had a cocktail which are two for £10. Highly recommended.
Great food. Excellent choice of beers, wines and spirits.
Sunday lunch is really, really good. Dogs are as welcome as customers.
The staff are friendly, professional and helpful.
Nice ambiance to eat, drink or just while away an enjoyable hour or two.
Central. Just off Brandling park.
Why wait? Go there and have fun.
Great venue , lots of free parking and ideal off the beaten track in central Jesmond, one to definitely go too for Sunday lunch - the food is tasty, plentiful and a good price!
But unable to set up a tab or pay at the end seems strange, as basically tips are never normally given upfront! And if dine & dash is a problem hold a card behind the bar till the meal is done!
Really nice pub. Family Sunday lunch out & everything we had was very nice. Beef was tender as you like. Veg was really tasty. Which included sweet potato mash. Very nice! Monument ale from tyne bank brewery very good. 5 star scran!
Little hidden gem of a pub in Jesmond! It was my first time visiting here and will definitely be back, the food was delicious (we had cod goujon sandwich and fillet steak), and service was really prompt. Free car park was a bonus for the location, and the pub itself was really lovely!
This pub was quite a surprise hidden away in Jesmond. Just a short walk from Newcastle Civic Centre and Exhibition Park. Had nice wine selection and good food. Outdoor seating area too.
Had a delicious dinner for mothers day today. Beef cooked to perfection and the best roasties and home made yorkshire ever! Oh ....and the sticky toffee pud was to die for. Lovely staff, lovely place, lovely everything!
