Friendly staff, cool to see the stotties being made, if there had been some ready would have definitely bought some. Breakfast sarnie and coffees were spot on, wasn't too keen on the fruit scones though.

First time to this awesome little place. Delicious sandwiches, cakes and coffee. And what a great social cause. Well done guys. Will be back!

Take your bucket list out of the drawer and above world cruise put, Big River Bakery. You won't be disappointed whatever you buy, freshly baked bread, pies, cakes, or sandwiches. Staff behind the counter are great as well. Sitting space inside and out. The hardest part is getting parked close by, easier to park a SHORT walk away. Try a sausage roll, big, thin pastry, and no air gap like most places. See if you can eat two, one after the other.

My daughter and me did the stottie making course here 2 weeks ago. It was brilliant, Shaun was very good at explaining the process.

Called for ham and pease pudding stottie also bought cheese scones and a breakfast stottie bakery was very busy. On the day we called they had a community event on and a baking experience in the kitchen. Will definatley return

Just finished a 2 hour stottie making course. Shaun the Chef was amazing, everything beautifully explained and worked with us right through the process. The result, 3 fabulous stotties to take home. Also the Florentines from the shop were the best Ive ever tasted. Marvellous place, not to be missed. All who work there should be so proud. X

Andy, the founder visited our Newcastle Business School on the 22nd June 2022 as part of our Rural Entrepreneurship conference and made this interesting presentation about his background, values and the contributions that this bakery is making to to the community and society at large. The slides in the pics are self explanatory. Our lunch was then sponsored by the bakery, which was delicious. I look forward to visiting the bakery one day and taste the food at the venue.

We’ve been using this bakery for a couple of years or so and they never fail to deliver some of the best sour dough loaves, stotties and all things savoury and sweet. Occasionally there’s a surprise to be had but always in a positive way. A great example of a social enterprise initiative at its best. Long bay it thrive.

Amazing bakery! The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The Baker even came to speak to me about one of the recipes I was enquiring about, amazing service! The stotties were fantastic, the texture was perfect and the flavour was great. The cheese scone was absolutely delicious, the texture was perfect and I really enjoyed the amount of black pepper used. The chicken balti was delicious, it contained a range of fresh vegetables and larg , pieces of chicken. The spices used in the chicken balti worked perfectly together. The cinammon swirl was my favourite of the products I tried. The crust was amazing, the flavour was delicious and the topping was incredible. Definitely get down to the Big River Bakery!

I've 33 years experience in the baking industry, and have heard that they make the best stottie cakes in the North East. It certainly lived up to the hype, perfect bread structure, very slight crust on the outside and excellent taste as well. Might be the first time I've been, but it certainly won't be the last 👍
