Delicious lunch for 2, no alcohol £140 - kicked myself for ordering lobster and scallops though which were too small and should have been thrown back 🙄 without the bill would have been <£100 which is far more reasonable for lunch!
Monk’s beard & spider crab, whole plaice and almond tart the standout dishes. Super friendly and attentive waiting staff, sit outside and enjoy the sounds, sights and smells of Newlyn fishing port…top tip for afterwards wander down to S. Jelbert’s for vanilla ice cream!
I’m having to post this while dining so I can share the joy. It’s so perfect. Everything has been perfect, including the bread and the Frizzante (!!) The most sumptuous John Dory, views of the fishing harbour with mist rolling in &Sally the seal lolling around in the harbour.
Great experience, lovely restaurant situated on the fishing harbour front
Agree with some of other reviews, got excited ordering the half lobster, but it annoyingly came overcooked, lacking flavour and super underwhelming as it was hard prawn like.
The yellow beans, dried scallop and chilli was to die for, as were the sardines.
On the side front, the side salad was great, new potatoes with green sauce lacking again any flavour, it seemed to be the same sauce as on the lobster. The braised courgette was so mushy and the texture was awful, we left it completely. Disappointing as the sides should really compliment the great mains.
To finish the hazelnut tart with greengages was so delicious, but our final mouthful left us with a super burnt bitter taste as the tart had been burnt and covered with a mass of icing sugar,
Overall good experience but left slightly disappointed when paying, some extra TLC on some of the dishes would made this experience 100% amazing.
Service was a joy.
I would definitely recommend this place to others and i hope my comments come across as constructive to Argoe.
