The Goulash House

A local restaurant located in Main St. Newmarket, The Goulash House is a must visit if you’re looking to try delicious Hungarian food 🤩 The menu is accessible through a QR code, and once you’re ready, you just let the server know. We ordered the Beef Goulash and Schnitzel on a Bun (you can choose between chicken or pork), and both took roughly 10-15 minutes to arrive. I loved the Beef Goulash, it was very flavourful and there were a lot of tender chunks of beef shanks in it too. I would say it’s the perfect comforting meal to have on a cold winter day! The Schnitzel on a Bun was also very nice, the buns were soft and the chicken was nicely battered too. It’s made similar to a katsu but it’s much thinner, less flakier and definitely didn’t taste as oily. Try dipping abit of the bread in the Goulash, it’s a great combination 😉 The Schnitzel on a Bun also came with fries and I loved how it was nicely seasoned as well! We definitely had leftovers as the portions were quite generous. Would I recommend visiting this local spot? Absolutely! IG: Ayenomz

I traveled a good distance to try out this place. But unfortunately the service was non existent. We were seated and after waiting for approximately 10-15 minutes, we were not given a menu to look at and no drinks or water offered. While another table that was seated after us was already served wine. I am not sure if this had anything to do with it, but our table was the only visible minority in the restaurant. We left without eating and will not be returning. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: 1. Server did not apologize 2. A table seated after us ordered and was served wine before we got water and menu, which suggests possible preferencial treatment. 3. Is it supposed to somehow be my fault that your restaurant is "short staffed"?

I was meaning to come to this restaurant for a long time and finally came for my birthday with my family. I definitely wasn't disappointed! The food was awesome! I shared a platter for two with my wife and it was more than enough. My family ate different items on the menu and everyone was happy with their meal. Portion size is huge and the meats were super tender. Their cabbage rolls tasted great as well. Service was great as well and everyone was nice. My only regret is not coming here sooner and I would definitely come back here again.

We were in the area and did not know what to eat.. then we saw this gem. Food is delicious!! Portion is awesome and service, despite the owner being alone, was great. The Joiko soup is out fantastic... The old castle pork was good but not exactly what I expected... Then we finished with a awesome cheese strudel... A friend ordered the schnitzel Jager and her review is that it was delicious... I am coming back for sure....

We ordered the mini goulash, cabbage roll, and jager schnitzel. Everything was absolutely amazing, the flavour combinations were phenomenal. Also HUGE portions - just like in Hungary! The service was super quick and the lady we spoke to was so friendly :) I'm so happy this place exists; we will definitely be back!
