The Fish Peddler Market Newport

Great meal in a very casual atmosphere. Ordered lunch at the counter and sat down. We got our food fast enough that I was worried about the quality, but actually the meal was great! I've had several local clam chowders and this was one of the best. The fish and chips was also delightful. The traditional halibut and chips is beer battered and very good, but the real winner here is the locally caught rockfish and chips, which is not only fresh, but panko crusted and delicious. And, wow, the tartar sauce!! The dining area has windows into the fish processing area, which isn't really my thing, but I'd happily brave it in the future to come back.

This place has a large selection of seafood. Most of it is locally sourced from the boats that fish for the seafood landing facility that it is located in. In season, items are as fresh as it gets. Parking sometimes in the summer is a little hard to come by but worth the walk if you have to park some distance away.

The rockfish and chips was so good and the Panko coating was perfect. The servers and staff are so friendly and helpful. After my meal, I purchased some fish and they gave me a bag of ice to take it home in. I liked it so much better than the food and experience I had at that pretentious, overpriced “Ocean” place down the road.

Came here with my sister to celebrate her birthday...she said that it's the best clam chowder she's ever had ..well, she was right 👍 I could have eaten another bowl, but wanted to save room for b-day cake. It's certainly a very busy place. Sorry I can't give you too much more information... there's always "next time".
