The Old Courthouse

If I had to sum up the meal that we had tonight by Chef Robert Steel in one word , it must be , PERFECTION !! From the crisp rhubarb fritters to the creamy, sumptuous, cold cantaloupe soup, Oh and my my my ... the best swordfish, that I do believe has ever been plated . Last but certainly not least was an amazing Almond Joy cheesecake and what a joy it was !! Our server was very friendly as well as on the spot with impeccable service . The dining room was quiet and tastefully decorated. I highly recommend this place !

We had a brunch reception for my son’s baptism at The Old Courthouse and it was wonderful. Our guests were so happy with the food, drinks, ambiance and service and the staff was very accommodating of the younger crowd (code for toddlers… every restaurant’s worst nightmare). They even packed a to go bag for my brother in law who didn’t get to eat because he was chasing kids around. Thanks Old Courthouse!

This was a wonderful experience. Like stepping into another world, with its classic Euopean decor and menu. I brought an artist friend and we both vowed to return. The service, the crisp linen tablecloths, napkins, was like stepping into a time capsule and being transported to that rich aristocratic time when tea is served and retired gentlemen linger over long lunch. There was a piano but no one played. The artwork on the walls and rich fabric draperies truly suit this wonderful, historic location. Climb the steps from doentown Newport, or park adjacent. It's so relaxing, you won't want to leave. I understand they also serve a Sunday brunch.
