Simply the best. Recently re-opened after refurbishment. New furnishings have really improved the restaurant. Nice and clean and fresh. Something great has happened in the kitchen too, as the food has gone from good to excellent. Very reminiscent of the old Benghal Spice in Long Eaton. Staff are fantastic. Prices have gone up a smidge, but no complaints when you consider the quality.
Outstanding as always. Food is best curry house for miles. Been several times always excellent staff always go extra mile. Had take away delivered several times for those that moan get off your arse and fetch it..... you are expected to wait given the weekend.
I visited Akbar's over the weekend to celebrate a birthday with the family.
The entire management and staff went the extra mile to ensure that not only were our seating requirements met but the food was especially tailored to our unique and quite fussy requirements.
Overall the quality of the food is outstanding and could easily pass for a restaurant in the back streets of Karachi.
I can not wait for my next visit.
Been going here for many years, since 1990 and never once had a bad meal, my son has eaten korma all over Britain and says this is by far the best he has had. Staff always pleasent and happy to advise on food. The only thing missing is a mango lassie drink but that's being picky. And I am sure if I were to ask for this in advance they would accommodate but I am not that organised.

Had, a fabulous meal the Friday before last, with family, the food was delicious, as always, the staff, as always so helpful and friendly, even if you haven't been for a while they are always happy to see you, nothing is too much trouble, and such a fantastic menu. We love the Akbar, restaurants and take away. The service is always excellent, I usually have half a pint while waiting for a takeaway. The meal is always hot and always great value.
This restaurant went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. The food was full of flavour and the service was very attentive. If you like Indian food then this is a must.
Had a lovely meal with my husband on Saturday night. Very friendly and welcoming. The service was 5 star and the food is to die for so delicious. We will be going back again.
The proof of the curry is in the eating and I have been eating at the Akbar for at least fifteen years. You will sample a wide variety of dishes, from the very hot to the very mild.A prawn cocktail fit for a king. I have travelled far and wide and not found one better. The staff give a warm welcome and make you feel at home catering to your every need.
Not visited for some time so noticed there were some interior & menu updates which look great, but pleased to say the food was still delicious and served by friendly attentive staff.
I would highly recommend.
