From the street it looks like any old takeaway. Don't be fooled. Venture inside and you will be in for a treat. We went after a matinée visit to the cinema and had the early evening deal. Excellent value for money. Our party of 6 had a variety of dishes, all delicious. The freshly cooked naan breads and the freshly made raita were especially good. We will certainly go back and try other dishes on the very original menu,
I went for a meal for my birthday with my partner yesterday, honestly the food was to die for... It was a shame that it wasn’t as busy as the food is so good. Different range of meats and curries... starters were lovely presented. It’s quiet hidden compared to other places to eat in Arnold so no wonder people probably don’t know about it. I highly recommend!
this is the first time we have been here, what a nice place, the food and service was very good, the owner came over to the table after we had finished to make sure everything was OK , very busy so it had atmosphere, we will see you again .
Excellent ! fantastic service and love the food especially the tandoori salmon good atmosphere highly recommend
Excellent service nothing too much trouble ( you don’t get service like this nowadays) and the food couldn’t of been better. I had king prawns chefs recommendation and a beautiful chicken jalfrezi and can not recommend the family naan bread , light fresh crisp and full of flavour.. I’m surprised they are not queuing to get in. 10/10 👋👋👋
We visited last Saturday with a pretty big group of around 15. From the outside maybe not that appealing, the whole place is upstairs so it just looks like one small doorway from outside, you could quite easily walk past and never notice to be honest. When you do find your way inside I have to notice that the appearance factor doesn't really improve. There's nothing wrong with the place per say, everything looks clean and welcoming it just all looks a little dated would be the best way to describe it, still you don't come to a restaurant for the decor I guess. The gentleman who showed us to our table was absolutely lovely, he really took care to talk to each of us and ask if there was anything he could get us (not easy with such a large group), and I have to say all of the staff from start to finish with also very friendly and very welcoming.
First we were given drinks menu's and pretty much all your standard stuff to be honest, decent selection of beers, wines and soft drinks and all priced very reasonably so not really much to talk about there. We started with poppadoms and pickle trays, I've seen a few reviews on here that complain about the pickle trays and I have to kind of agree. You don't get a great deal in the way of portions here and we all ended up eating our poppadoms dry in the end. Onto the actual food now; this place isn't just your typical Indian, there are a fair few Nepalese dishes throughout as well and I think this does give it a slight edge over competitors, I can't think of any other place that you can get Nepalese food (you can also get all of the "traditional" Indian options). I went for the Kaichi Chicken to start, which is basically fried chicken wings served "Nepalese style" according to the menu. Now I've never been to Nepal so I can't confirm the authenticity but to me they were alright, honestly not really that much to shout about they were just fried chicken wings served with a bit of salad, not bad by any means but certainly nothing special. Onto mains now; I had a Daal Makhni (basically a mild lentil curry) with a pilau rice and split a Bombay Aloo with a friend, I really wanted Chapati but could only see Naan on the menu but the waiter said they would make me some anyway (another plus for service there!!) Again the food was all okay, flavoured well and all tasted nice and fresh, only compliments from around the table as well, one thing I really enjoyed is that I can sometimes find this type of cuisine to be quite greasy and this was certainly not a problem at Himalayan Inn, the mains did go some way to redeeming the disappointment I had from the starters. My only slight complaint with the mains was the Bombay Aloo portion size was very small, we did order as a side but literally got two potatoes each so my advice would be if you're planning to order a side to share you might be better to order it as a main.
All in all the food definitely made up for the slightly unappealing look of the place from the street, but the starter was a bit of a let down. The variety that the menu provides goes some way to redeeming this and does mean I will definitely be visiting again as there were numerous dishes I wanted to try, but the real jewel with this place is the service, no other way to describe it than just really nice people! Price wise it was about average, we came in at about 40 each but considering that was two courses, breads, sides and numerous bottles of wine I think the price was about right. Like I said earlier I would definitely visit again, definitely worth a try!
We visited this evening and wasnt disappointed. Beautiful food and wine and competitive prices with excellent service. A little hidden gem. Definitely give a five star. Thankyou Himalayan restaurant for a pleasant evening.
Fantastic service !! Starters were great. The main was to die for. Perfect start to the weekend. Great coffee!!
This was my first time here after being recommended by a friend. The curries were really fresh and tasty, loads of flavours going on and not greasy/ oily. Absolutely lovely staff who were very welcoming. Would definitely return.
Fantastic evening made to feel very welcome, All staff friendly and very attentive. Very tasty food everything just as it should be. Will return again when we can.
I totally forgot to give this place a 5 star review ,my wife surprised me with a night out and this was where she took me for food .all the food was fantastic starters ,mains and dessert and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the curry too and what flavours it has and where in originated from will deffo go back
Had my first takeaway from here and was so impressed I had to ring the restaurant to express my gratitude! The driver was well presented and looked very smart. The food was non-greasy, fresh and wow... Delicious! The whole experience was fantastic and I am excited to have the restaurant experience!
We visited for a birthday (a group of 7). The service was great. They recommended some dishes and were knowledgeable. The food was reasonable priced, tasty and hot. I would come again!
4 people Saturday evening, Service excellent, first impression was, its a bit like a works canteen needs atmosphere from the decor. Food was ok to Nice pompadoms were lovely but let down by the pickle tray ? main courses very nice , let down by the poor veg rice and pilau rice, breads were fine. Portion size was good, meat quality good. would use again if in the area.
Excellent tasty and high quality dining and delivery service. Wide choice of food that is beautifully cooked and seasoned. Would highly recommend
We had our first takeaway from this restaurant last night and it was excellent. It arrived exactly on time as detailed on the online ordering system. The food was very fresh with lots of fresh produce used. We certainly enjoyed it very much. The lamb and chicken were beautiful and one of the best nan breads we have had. Will certainly be ordering again and we found it very good value for money.
We ordered in as, being heavily pregnant, getting out is hard.
The ordering was clear and efficient and precise on delivery time.
The food arrived piping hot by a very polite waiter from the restaurant.
We had exactly what we had ordered. The tandoori chicken was moist and tasty, the madras was excellent and not oily for once like other take aways and restaurants!!!
I finished every bit and cannot wait to go again asap!!
We visited the Himalayan Inn in Arnold on a Saturday evening. We were a large famil6 party of 15.
We couldnt have wished for a better experience.
The food was excellent. Service was brilliant. All the food came at the same t8me despite the large party.
One of the nicest meals we have had.
A first floor restaurant that does not look anything from the street. In the Arnold area of Nottingham. Food is familiar, but not, as it's Nepalese AND Indian menu.
Waiters were friendly very efficient and we opted for the Early Bird menu (before 7pm and £13.95) This includes a Starter and Main dish. You can obviously enhance this.
Everyone enjoyed their food options, but be aware of generous portions so be careful not to over order as we did. Doggie bags are available :-)
Space outside for dropping off.
I invited 34 guests to the Himalayan in to raise money for Prevent Breast Cancer
the restaurant produced a small menu for our guests to choose from. The price was extremely competitive which enabled me to add 25% to the ticket price.
everyone was raving about the food and service. it was a brilliant night
the restaurant even volunteered a table for two for the charity draw.
everyone was a winner
It was a truly awesome night.
