Amazing! Stumbled across this restaurant when we were in town for an event and we enjoyed every youthful. The mango and cream cheese sushi is surprisingly light and delicious. Highly recommended.
Honestly this place was amazing, it's got quite a cozy atmosphere to it all together and the staff who serve you are extremely kind towards you. The food itself was also really well done, first time trying sake and miso soup alongside the golden dragon but it was overall quite a pleasant experience.

As a fan of Asian food, I can easily confirm that the food in Bonzai is delicious, although as a vegan person have to say that there are not that many vegan options, which is a bit disappointing. I ordered seaweed salad, and some tofu, and wow, I couldn't choose better. Service was good, nothing great in particular, they could interact a bit more with customers, but it's not an issue. Important that they do their job well. Food arrived quickly despite the place being nearly full.
The place itself is outdated and way too small. I could barely get through the tables to have a sit. The tables are way close to each other and the acoustics are bad, probably because of the number of people in such a small space. There is a small outside area with a few tables, but in hot weather like yesterday, it was better inside with the aircon. Did not use the facilities, so cannot say anything. No car park, as the place is in the city centre, but there are many options nearby. Could have been slightly cheaper.
Would go back for food tho.
Beautiful restaurant, the interior is lovely, very well decorated and the music is played at a perfect volume, loud enough to hear it but not too loud to not be able to hear anyone. I ordered the Sakana bento box, the portions are massive, well worth the money! You get miso soup with it before the box comes, its a lovely appetiser, and the tofu in it is so soft and cooked perfectly. The Salmon in the bento box was amazing, and the gyozas were soft and melted in your mouth! My favourite, what I would highly recommend, was the Green dragon sushi platter, I can honestly say it wad the best sushi I have ever had, i thoroughly enjoyed it and will 100% be back for more. I went with my partner, who has never been a fan of seafood, he tried all of it and he was impressed, he also enjoyed the sushi platter. Will definitely be back in the future, the service was fast and the waitresses were smiley and friendly!
I had my first ever sushi here today, so much in love with sushi now. The menu is huge, good service, amazing portion size, and the vibe of the restaurant are also really good. A good place to go if you are trying sushi for the first time and also if you are a vegetarian.
The best ones are the golden and red dragon sushi if you like fried shrimp. It is expensive but the fresh quality doesn’t disappoint
Was a little apprehensive about going as I'm veggie but found there was lots of choice. The food was delicious and well presented and arrived quickly. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Quite expensive but good quality. I would recommend
Came in tonight for an early birthday dinner, the service we received from Dan was fantastic. He did a great job answering questions about the menu and was very kind. Sadly we didn’t catch the name of the woman working with him but she was also lovely.
The food was the best I’ve had in a long time, everything arrived relatively quickly and the quality was brilliant.
Hands down best sushi restaurant in Nottingham, authentic vibes and a really cool little restaurant. The service is quite slow but the food more than makes up for it! The restaurant gets rather busy so single diners / couples be prepared to be seated on the same table as other diners as the restaurant really isn’t that big. Everything is made fresh and the sushi is great quality for the price ☺️ The rice bowls are super generous in portions and nice and filling, and I loved the bento boxes
Have visited this place several times over the years, and it’s always good. Super polite and helpful service, freshly cooked but relatively quickly, and a good range of dishes not solely Japanese but other Asian options too. Bring cash to pay for service/a tip!
