We visited this wonderful restaurant to experience Afghan cuisine for the first time. We were not disappointed! Delicious & authentic food, a very friendly and dedicated service and furthermore a very genuine Afghan atmosphere and setting.
We ordered a couple of chef specials, namely, the Charsi Lamb Tikka Karahi & the Charsi ChickenTikka Karahi (Typical Stews), Mantu (Lamb filled Dumplings), Chana (Chickpeas in sauce), Qabli Pilau (Kabul style rice), a huge Kabul Special Naan, complimentary salad, Kabul chutney (made with yogurt, coriander and very spicy green chillies), a jugful of Mango Lassi & finished our meal with a delicious Firni (A rice based pudding with almonds and pistachios with a wonderful green cardamom fragrance.
If you are ever in Nottingham make sure you visit this place.
We cannot wait to go back already.

Decent place to have some Afghan style food. Portions are huge and it’s priced on the affordable/cheap side. Quick and efficient service.

Good food *only kabuli polow, BBQ and chapli Kabab are good... didn't expect that Tikka karahi or peshawri karahi would contain some sugar which is really gross.,
poor service... they charged me for Biryani which they never ever served and they said they can't return money and they gona serve free next time.... but for next 3 times they refused to serve.
It's not a fine dining restaurant but it's still unique for they have like little cabana style rooms with curtains where you can sit on the rig and eat your meal.U quite liked it. I ordered vegetable biryani which was good, not great. But to have lot of vegetarian choices on menu was very welcoming.
It’s a shame this place is closed (hopefully temporarily) the food here is amazing and prices were always great, have been a regular for a few years. The “dastarkhan” seating arrangements were always nice with the private rooms for families. Let’s just hope they find another location for their business which matched the same vibe and has a good layout!
Kabul express is one of the best restaurant in Nottingham that I order from. I like their chicken Qabuli, despite they delivered it burned sometimes. I always order half lamb from them. It is yummy but sometimes they brought it cold and the lamb not like the previous one but still yummy.
very friendly and accommodating staff. These dishes are very tasty and authentic. The Chappal Kebabs are one of the best in UK.
After a while you start getting bored of eating the same flavours. This place was not the same, I don't think I've ever tasted the flavours this place has.
We got a large platter that was loaded with rice, meat and chips. Most places do a similar platter but the flavour was different. The rice is an Afghani pilau it tastes just right, not spicy or bland.
The various meats though were cooked to perfection and I don't know what they use to marinate it but it just tasted amazing.
We managed to sit in one of the pods, I love the whole traditional Afghani experience. You sit on the floor with cushions and the food is served on a mat. They close the curtains for privacy, such a unique experience and you don't break the bank either.
