This is a fabulously quaint coaching Inn. I've been staying here on and off for 14 years and I love it! Great central location with car parking a short walk away. A little old fashioned, but for me, that's part of the charm. The bar, with its open fire is a wonderful place to relax on a winters evening and over the years, all the staff I've met have been brilliant!
I've been staying here for 5 weeks with work (2 to go) and I cannot fault anything.
The staff are really friendly, the rooms are nice and the breakfast is fantastic.
Had some drinks in the bar, also can't fault this.
Nice central location, easy to access car parking, ideal place to stay and I highly recommend
Thank you to all the staff, you've been great!!
A cosy, warm, Christmasy atmosphere. Lovely fire burning away in the lounge area. 8 of us came for a late lunch. We thought they would say 'too late, sorry' but no, the chef said yes, and they welcomed us in! We were all very satisfied with our choices. All the staff were super friendly. Thank you all very much and wish you all a very happy new year 🎉
Plenty of space out the front to park and unload with a private car park to the rear with a literal minute walk to the rear of the hotel, where you walk into a lovely courtyard and beer garden. Staff were super helpful and friendly and willing to go above and beyond going as far as to lend us their fan to help keep us cool as we stayed during a heatwave, lovely old building with decor to match. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding made for 2 nights of amazing sleep, only minor problem was the beds were not zipped together to create the double so they did shift slightly throughout the night but did not affect the quality of the stay or sleep at all. Breakfast was some of the best cooked breakfasts I've ever had with super helpful waiting staff who couldn't do enough for you. Great location in the middle of Oakham easy walking distance to all restaurants and bars in the area as well as the Oakham castle hall. Check in was made super easy and entertaining by the lovely man working who couldn't do enough to help, he made us aware of the market going on in the morning and of things nearby to go to. Overall an amazing experience and stay, my partner and i are already talking about booking again.
We stayed for the night at this 17th Century Inn with dinner & breakfast included.
Our room was big, quiet looking over the front shops square carpark with a comfy big bed.
It had a tv, a heater & a spacious bathroom with shower over bath & lots of hot water.
The staff were very professional, polite & the hotel was very clean.
This is quite a big hotel with winding hallways in all directions finding some antiques here & there.
The dining room was nice with romantic laid out tables & the food was amazing with nice size portions in a master chef style which was a bargain for what we paid for on a Sunday night.
We slept well on full tummies & we enjoyed our good choice of breakfast & left happy.
We will return again in the near future.
The car park is at the back of the building on the side road, the 3rd entrance.
Lunch of croque madame, an amazing club sandwich. Fish and chips poor but immediately removed from the bill. Lovely waiter, lovely atmosphere, lovely place to visit
Staff couldn't be more helpful here, they got me out of a sticky situation when another hotel cancelled on me upon arrival. Manager was kind enough to allow a late check in to save me sleeping in my car. Only stayed a short amount of time but the room was very nice with a comfy bed. Couldn't stay for breakfast but from what I saw it looked night. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.
Only stayed for coffee and a sausage roll, but lovely lounge (log fire), good coffee, helpful staff. Will visit again.
Lovely stylish and cosy bar with excellent service. I can recommend the House white wine. Very welcoming.
We went last week for an afternoon cream tea. Our friends had bought us a gift voucher for Christmas. It was lovely. The front of house young man was friendly and welcoming. He showed us to our table and bought us our drinks then sandwiches and cake. Plenty of everything we couldn’t eat it all. Refill of drinks half way through. No rush at all. We sat and chatted and really enjoyed our afternoon. So thank you Whipper In. If only the weather was as good. Oakham is a lovely Market town. But it was very cold and spotting rain. So we headed back to our car instead of the planned stroll around the town. But the cream tea was well worth our outing despite the poor weather.
