Review Vale Royal Abbey Arms - Oakmere

Paul Garner
Very good food and atmosphere, with a warm welcome and lots of friendly banter from the manager. The pub is huge, with a large beer garden and large car park. The menu has all the expected favourites plus lots of treats you don't find in other pubs. Make sure you read the whole menu before ordering so you don't miss out! On a Wednesday, they run an offer. If you buy 2 glasses of wine, then you get the whole bottle. What a great idea! Its easy to see why they have just won another pub of the year award. We will definitely be returning.

Took a trip here for the first time for some lunch and wasn't disappointed! The staff were welcoming and as attentive as they needed to be, everywhere was nice and clean, the food was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend taking the time to make a trip here!

I've wanted to stop here for years. Every time I've visited Delamere Forest, I've passed this place on the crossroads and thought "that looks nice". Well, I can confirm after today that it is nice!! Nice staff, nice decor, nice service, nice ambience, nice drinks, nice people. I'd definitely stop again.

Such a lovely cosy pub, we always call here whenever we are going to Delamere Forest, and come for family meals and our anniversary. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. We have always had a great meal here, also great menu for vegans/vegetarians and have made adjustments to dishes for us so we were able to order them. The menu isn't the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for and the quality of food is fantastic. Can't wait to return again.

Great pub/restaurant. We turned up for Wednesday dinner. All 23 of us on motorcycles. The staff/management where a bit pannicky but showed us to our tables. The food was amazing and served with a smile.

Been here twice now. Lovely staff lovely atmosphere. Food was great had the peri peri burger deffo recommended. Service was efficient and polite. Gutted didn't get the pudding I wanted. Erin and other lovely waiter that served us was brilliant. Travelled here as a halfway point to meet a good friend. Once again I walked away a happy customer. Toilets tables surroundings all very clean. Whoever is running this establishment is doing everything right ✅️ 👏 10/10 I would recommend this place and I will definitely be back in the future. Also they asked about allergys very efficient.

Arrived late evening and it was very busy, we hadn't booked a table. We received a very warm welcome from staff who arranged a table for us after a couple of drinks. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the Vale Royal Abbey Arms for food and drink. A very warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are lovely. Close if you're staying near Delamere Forest as it's only a short walk away.

Lovely evening with Family on Saturday night. Although I'm not Vegan, I opted for one of the the Vegan Starter and main courses, they were delicious. The lady that served us was so polite, and couldn't have done any more for us. A really nice night 😃

We visited after a walk round Delamere for a much needed Sunday roast. Noticed the Sunday roast sharer which offered 3 meats ( a nice slice each of gammon beef and Turkey) a Yorkshire pudding each, cauliflower cheese and veg to share, pigs in blankets, roasties, creamy mash, a stuffing ball and unlimited pots of gorgeous gravy. The food really was gorgeous the only thing I can say is the mash wasn’t enough for a child per person so we did ask for an extra bowl Between us which was absolutely fine and I was glad I asked for more as it was so nice! Nice and busy not too busy but with a good atmosphere Noticed a few log burners which I am looking forward to returning in winter when they are roaring

Good food and atmosphere, just let down by the condition of several tables looking tatty one of which we were eating at , they need a little time spent bringing them back to a good standard, such a shame and the food was a little pricey

Absolutely fantastic. Staff were very welcoming and professional. They had the fireplace lit and it was very cosy. Elegantly decorated for the christmas period. The food was absolutely delicious and great value for money. I would definitely recommend and have done to friends and family. We can't wait to go back again. Thankyou very much.

Within a group of 12 it was my first time eating here, even though I'm relatively local. I'd heard good things from friends. Efficient service by well-mannered, young, enthusiastic staff. They couldn't do enough for us. The whole group commented about the tasty food and desserts. The portions were a decent size, food was beautifully cooked and the ambiance was fine, apart from someone else's yapping dog in another room - you can't get the owners can you!? I'd definitely return to try some different dishes. The chicken chasseur and biscoff cheesecake were great.

Great restaurant and bar. Large restaurant area and good selection of ales and lagers. The lamb shank is excellent. Falls off the bone and the gravy was also excellent. Waiter very helpful. Went to order a bottle of wine and he advised us there was a special on that night of buy 2 glasses get the remainder of bottle free. Good deal. Only downfall is it was bingo night so was quite noisy later on. Will definitely go again.

Really nice place. JW Lees brewery owned pub but Steve and his staff certainly make it feel less like a chain, always decent food (would prefer some more chicken dishes), drinks are decent. Always doing various events/activities, Always clean, plenty of car parking, and plenty to do near by.

We went for Sunday lunch. 3 adults and 2 large dogs. I rang in advance to check they were dog friendly (as we were visiting from Derbyshire) and they said they were and reserved a table in their conservatory. When we arrived our dogs were bigger than they expected so they seated us in a lovely snug. Our food was superb (2 of us had Sunday lunch and 1 a burger meal and 2 had apple pie and custard.) I asked if they could do us a sausage each for our dogs so they could have some lunch too and it was no trouble at all. We were charged £1/sausage which i thought was very reasonable. We were even asked if we wanted the sausages hot or cold. I opted for cold. The staff even served the dogs sausage cut up in a dog bowl each. The staff were amazingly dog friendly and made a super fuss of our dogs. We were not neglected either. We would highly recommend this venue for other dog owners especially, or just people who like good food in a lovely environment. The venue was very clean, homely with lovely decor and very friendly. We'll definitely return. To all the staff, thankyou for making us so welcome.

We have just been to the Abbey Arms for a meal, 5 adults and 2 children, and the food was fantastic. This is the second time we have been here recently and both times the food was great, the service was fab with helpful and really friendly staff and the pub itself is lovely. I definitely recommend it and will be back soon.

Popped in today for lunch. I have driven past The Vale Royal Abbey Arms so many times in the past, something I now regret. Excellent meal, efficient and friendly staff and I would certainly recommend this lovely pub to anyone interested.

Visited Vale Royal Abbey Arms for a birthday celebration meal with my son. Could not fault it and will certainly recommend it. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was excellent. We were attended to by the lovely Holly who made us feel so welcome. Her manner was so sincere and attentive. Will certainly return. Thank you Holly for making my birthday special.

Called in on off chance for Sunday lunch and were greeted by super friendly staff. Looks gorgeous after refurb and am sure in winter it will be snuggly warm. Food came I had ham Sunday lunch and hubby had beef and it was absolutely divine. Enjoyed everything apart from Wi-Fi taking a while to connect. Will recommend and will Defo be repaying a visit. Oh and love the water beer barrel for doggies.

6 of us booked an evening meal. Good food, friendly staff and would recommend.

We were a party of 6, staff very friendly and helpful. Ordered our food, one member in our party got his starter as we were finishing ours, staff did apologise for the delay. Main meal, another member in our party ordered thin chips with his meal( choice on menu), he got fat chips, again staff apologised and changed them for him. As for the pudding, I'm not an ice-cream lover so asked for cream, instead but I received ice-cream!! Again, more apologies and my pudding re-sorted. It seems that the staff don't communicate with each other which has put us off eating there again. Ordering drinks was no problem. The place itself is very clean, toilets were spotless.

What a great place. Fab service , lovely food, and great place to spend some sociable time with friends and family. Thank you to our waitress who managed to keep a straight face at my 7 year old son's conversations (well almost lol ). Planning our next trip back already
