Review The Reindeer Inn - Overton

Found this pub by much detective work as most local pubs were not inspiring. Nice large car park. Clean inside everywhere. We went to the back in the conservatory with a good view and overlooking the mining museum. Seating was comfortable. There were a number of tables outside the back. Beers were a good price. Now to the food, good food choices and prices were below normal. We all agreed that the food was excellent and a good plate full. We will return without doubt. Only let down was it wasn't dog friendly πŸ˜•

Stopped off for impromptu lunch on Thursday 7th Sept - what a little gem - lovely warm welcome from lady behind the bar - Bradley our server was very polite and welcoming too. My daughter had sausage and mash and I had fish and mash - food was fabulous, piping hot and very tasty. Would strongly recommend. Only 4/5 for atmosphere because it was very quiet when we were there but I’m sure it’s better when busy 🀩

Lovely Fish and Chips, and a decent selection of ales on offer. Nice traditional pub decor inside with a bright conservatory area where we ate. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were out on a Sunday walk, on our way back from Emley. We were told the kitchen had stopped doing food (mid afternoon) but lucky for us they were still cooking for the last table that had booked, so they managed to fit us in. Would definitely consider going again, and probably book ahead if it's expected for dining.

Great, friendly pub with good outdoor space at the rear. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful especially Morgan. We eat here on Saturday evening and had Sunday lunch, both meals were amazing and service was great. The Raindeer also sells real ale, which was also a great buy. Could not rate this place highly enough. The manager was lovely and very accommodating.and it is a five minute walk from the National Coal Mininig Museum which I would also highly recommend you visit.

I stopped here for a couple of hours whilst waiting to collect a friend from a meeting close by. I ordered a quick snack, Onion Bhaji, although it was quite tasty, was somewhat expensive for what I actually received. See the photo below. Β£6.75?

What a lovely country style pub With home cooking in house. I would highly recommend. The welcome you get is like you go every week. All the staff are amazing and helpfull in every way possible. The night was to celabrate my birthday with my wife sister and brother in law. The food was exceptional. we went for the 3 courses. The home made vegetable soup was the best i have had. The other 3 starters were prawn cocktail and you certainly got plenty. again all 3 said it was delicious. Mains i had teak & Kidney pie chips & garden peas with gravy. It was to die for thoroughly enjoyed it. I finished of with treacle sponge & custard my fave. and again was made to perfection. The staff even came and sang happy birthday to me with a candle in my pudding. They have a wide variety of beers fine wines and spirits, which we defonatley had to try the worthingtons bitter was pur nectar. All in all this gem of a pub is Amazing. The individual dining rooms give you that cozy feeling and you can have a conversation freely with out having to shout .Even though there is ligjt hearted music playing in the back ground. A big thank you to all who made our visit so lovely. Keep up the amazing work we will see you all soon.

Please note, during covid we decided to get rid of our play area due to it getting vandalised on numerous occasions. We also revamped our beer garden.

Lovely place to stumble across, much bigger inside than expected. Liked the outdoor seating area with great views although too wet to sit outside. Probably would benefit from some new decor (a bit dated) but all the same a lovely, friendly place to drink. Hope to visit again soon.

Called in a couple of weeks ago to ask if they could accommodate a small wake, the landlady, Karen, couldn't have been more helpful and as promised provided a lovely buffet yesterday at a more than reasonable price. Karen and the other lady, sorry don't know her name, were really welcoming and looked after us, thanks.

Called today and had the Smoked Mackerel ( the best you'll ever taste), the Roast Pork, and Strawberry Cheesecake. Everything was absolutely spot on. The Reindeer is a lovely cosy pub with very friendly staff who are always pleased to help in any way. It's a real pleasure to eat here, and it wont be long before I return. They also have a good selection of beers, although I had Cider this time. If your looking for good food and great service, you can't go wrong with the Reindeer. Update: After a lengthy absence, for obvious reasons, I called back today and wasn't disappointed. The Sunday Roast is really good home cooked food. The very best. The whole thing was cooked to perfection. It was an absolute pleasure to eat there. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Very friendly landlady. Over worked and needs more customers with covid 19 being the main draw back to customers staying at home more than before the outbreak. Lovely views and outdoor seating area. It's well worth a visit, meals at reasonable prices. πŸ˜‹
