Stopped off for impromptu lunch on Thursday 7th Sept - what a little gem - lovely warm welcome from lady behind the bar - Bradley our server was very polite and welcoming too. My daughter had sausage and mash and I had fish and mash - food was fabulous, piping hot and very tasty. Would strongly recommend. Only 4/5 for atmosphere because it was very quiet when we were there but I’m sure it’s better when busy 🤩
Great, friendly pub with good outdoor space at the rear. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful especially Morgan. We eat here on Saturday evening and had Sunday lunch, both meals were amazing and service was great. The Raindeer also sells real ale, which was also a great buy. Could not rate this place highly enough. The manager was lovely and very accommodating.and it is a five minute walk from the National Coal Mininig Museum which I would also highly recommend you visit.
I stopped here for a couple of hours whilst waiting to collect a friend from a meeting close by.
I ordered a quick snack, Onion Bhaji, although it was quite tasty, was somewhat expensive for what I actually received. See the photo below. £6.75?
Lovely Fish and Chips, and a decent selection of ales on offer. Nice traditional pub decor inside with a bright conservatory area where we ate. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were out on a Sunday walk, on our way back from Emley. We were told the kitchen had stopped doing food (mid afternoon) but lucky for us they were still cooking for the last table that had booked, so they managed to fit us in.
Would definitely consider going again, and probably book ahead if it's expected for dining.
Called in a couple of weeks ago to ask if they could accommodate a small wake, the landlady, Karen, couldn't have been more helpful and as promised provided a lovely buffet yesterday at a more than reasonable price. Karen and the other lady, sorry don't know her name, were really welcoming and looked after us, thanks.
Lovely place to stumble across, much bigger inside than expected. Liked the outdoor seating area with great views although too wet to sit outside. Probably would benefit from some new decor (a bit dated) but all the same a lovely, friendly place to drink. Hope to visit again soon.
Real ale and real, home cooked meals. Excellent food on the 12 til 2 menu .
Please note, during covid we decided to get rid of our play area due to it getting vandalised on numerous occasions. We also revamped our beer garden.
A fun pub with a great view. Beer very reasonable, top barman
I had a great meal in the afternoon home made steak pie with chips it was amazing followed by a few pints the landlady helped me find out what time the bus came a great place indeed
