Not the cheapest but probably the best full English breakfast I've ever had. It was big and greasy but seasoned and cooked perfectly. Their carrot cake is also excellent, and for lunch they do open sandwiches that don't look like much but will actually be a struggle to finish. Can get full at lunchtime but the staff do a good job trying to fit you in, and they're always friendly.

The best cooked breakfast I've had (sorry mum). All fresh locally prepared ingredients really push the quality of an everyday staple, the OJ was fantastic too, recommended! Worthy of note is that there aren't many tables in the cafe, 23 seats available at count, but there are seats outside for anyone waiting.

I am very happy to report that this historic little cafe is now under new management and when I visited the other day on the recommendation of a friend, I could not have been more staggered by the transformation. Gone are the nicotine-stained walls, scuzzy plastic benches and tables, the fry-ups floating in grease, and rude, grumpy staff. Instead there are duck egg blue walls, elegant wood tables and chairs, and beautiful white wall mirrors that create a sense of space and airiness that belies the cafe's intimate size. Piano music in the background is soothing but unobtrusive and the staff are charming, smiley and efficient. But above and beyond all that, it is the food that really excels. I couldn't resist ordering the full Oxford English breakfast and I can honestly say that the homemade sausages (which are pure pork) were the best I've ever tasted. My friend went for the American-style blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and the euphoric look on her face was testament enough to the experience. Her pot of tea, made with proper loose leaves, reminded her of how tea should really taste; and the flavour of my latte must surely rank the coffee among the best Oxford has to offer. We were tempted to stay on for lunch and tea and simply work our way through the mouth-watering menu. Instead we will look forward to many future visits, and judging by the appreciative comments I heard coming from other tables, we won't be the only ones.

Fantastic cute little cafe. Food is great (their sausage and mash is better than the Turf Tavern's), the prices are nice (had a lunch of Ham Hock Terrine, a pot of tea, and the desert of the day - an orange drizzle cake with clotted cream for £10.75), and super friendly staff. I am both glad and disappointed I didn't try this place until the last two weeks of my 4 months of study abroad in Oxford. Disappointed because I didn't get to enjoy it for too long, glad because I would have spent so much money popping in here for lunch after class every week or so.

This place is under new management as of the beginning of May 2013 and they are keen to please. We sat in the sunny window on comfy cushions on Tuesday and had a delightful lunch of proper Ham hock terrine and home made pea/mint soup with delicious bread. My mate had the home smoked fish plate which was proper smokin'. We loved it - easy to find, easy to park, quick service, simple but excellent fare and very reasonably priced. You can have a big helping or a small one and the staff were very nice (and rather tasty themselves if i am honest).

One of our favourite Sunday morning breakfasts in Oxford; with friendly staff and a very helpful and attentive proprietor who seems keen on keeping the menu fresh and up to date. Definitely recommend the pancake options (and hot chocolate)

Fantastic food, brilliant service. My wife had the scones in true devonshire style. I had the most amazing twist on an eggs benedict in my life with a sumptuous black pudding. Highly recommend it.

Very small place, with a few tables. We had brunch there, the English breakfast was great, very good quality of products and tasty. Recommended for sure in the town.

Very welcoming. Service was a touch slow but the food was worth the wait. Had a very nice Pork belly with dauphinoise potatoes.

Went there recently and it was fantastic. Friendly staff and food was brilliant. A better fry up I have not found.
