Stayed in Oxford for long weekend and this pub was just down the road from us, went in both nights and had lovely meals, staff were friendly and food hot and delicious, l would definitely recommend this place
Had a beautiful meal with family for my birthday, food was lovely and didn't have to wait too long even though there was 12 of us. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend the roasts. Thankyou.
I had a lovely visit here today.
This pub has had a huge refurbishment and now has beautiful outdoor seating area too complete with a huge screen for all your favourite sporting events.
I had the mixed grill which was perfectly cooked by trainee chef Chris who also covered table service. He did an excellent job!
There is also a good selection of dining options for children and food is served from 12.00pm to 9.00pm daily.
It was so good to see bar staff member Jenny and Landlady Ashleigh who provided a warm, friendly and welcoming service in such a relaxing and cosy environment.
There is ample free parking available at the rear next to the garden. Disabled parking spaces are adequate and easily accessible.
There is also a bus stop directly in front that takes you straight to the city centre.
I liked the place. It's huge. Lots of seating- indoor as well as outdoor. There is a beer garden at the back of the pub- again with lots of seating. And there are heaters, so you can sit comfortably outside without feeling too cold.
Prices are not low- but it's pretty much the standard price of pubs in Oxford.
Portions are decent. I tried their squid starter and liked it.
Service is a little slow. But then I guess it's fine- I had time to spare and wasn't in a rush.
Called in at short notice and the lovely staff found us a table in the bar...
Fantastic roast.... Both had the veggie option (beetroot, sweet potato and butternut squash pie).
Nice enough pretty generic pub with sports and all that, and a good selection of beers. The food (beef & ale pie) was wonderful!
Fab end of the week and start of my Oxford weekend adventure
Just 4 minutes walk from my accommodation
A very delicious lasagne with garlic bread and side salad
Would be rude not to have a double beefeater boos red orange and fevertree tonic light

Absolutely fantastic pub with an amazing atmosphere and delicious food! The duke is a family friendly place and I often bring my children for lunch and dinner which I can honestly say I have never had any complaints. They're also dog friendly too! Ashleigh and the team have never failed to make our visits perfect, welcomed and comfortable.
It's a lovely (and quite a good-sized) pub located on the Abingdon Road. The ambience is lovely and the staff are very warm, friendly and welcoming.
The food is excellent. Although the menu is compact, the quality and serving size are really good. We started with 1/2 kg chicken wings with hot sauce, and we all enjoyed it.
In main course, I personally found fish and chips with garden peas to be the best. On weekdays, the food is cheaper. Main course costs just ~ 12.50 for two people.
For dessert, I would recommend triple chocolate brownie with ice cream. Absolutely fantastic.
Overall, had a really good experience !!
Friendly staff, great service . Plenty of comfy seating and they have a lovely beer garden with a huge screen-great for sports. The pub has a chill atmosphere and good food. Dog friendly!!!
Great food the pies are fantastic. Nice friendly staff good value drinks. Short walk from the Travelodge and best and closest food pub.
Staying at a local campsite and just came to here (as the nearest pub) for some food and a couple of drinks when we arrived.
Really friendly and helpful staff (Ashleigh, Jenny and Nigel), good choice of beers and ales, football on TV if that's your thing and perfectly fine pub food (with deals that make it excellent value).
Even better - it's dog friendly and they fussed our sociable dog.
If we lived nearby it'd be my local!
