I've eaten here twice over the past few weeks as it's my new local, and I have been happily surprised by the quality of the food. For a small unassuming pub, the service is amazing (always offered a free digestif) and every meal from starter to dessert is absolutely amazing. I'll be back again, not because it's the closest pub, but because it's the pub with the best food. Yum!
New (interim?) management & staff are great, despite my initial concerns/negativity (Sorry Gemma & Co for my previous rant!)
Not quite yet the Marsh as it was, but still a great place for a nice drink with a lovely atmosphere, friendly people (both sides of the bar), and a genuine feeling of being welcome.
Highly recommended.
When they start serving food again I'll update my review (hopefully "great food too"!).
Been a long time since I've been in The Marsh Harrier. Was a very hot humid evening, so it was nice to sit and drink in the spacious garden. Didn't eat, but noticed many people were eating. Drank London Pride and St Austell's Proper Job, which seemed to be particularly popular.
Took the family, 6 of us, for Sunday lunch. It could not have been better. Excellent food, generous portions and super friendly staff. Yorkshire puddings to die for (praise indeed from Yorkshire family visiting) and really tasty gravy. All of the veg very fresh and tasty. Lovely pint of Chadlington ale also. Recommended, we'll be back.
Amazing place, delicious food. The beers are good and cold. The service was great though, and the toilets super clean.
Empty plates all around! Literally such good food - we had the meat lasagne and the vegetarian special.
Staff were super lovely and there was plenty of food on offer and ample portions
Having visited on many occasions, I'm beginning to notice the difference in service and expectation.
The Staff are argumentative, slow and the waiting time for food has become longer and overall a disappointing experience.
Unfortunately no longer value for money
I have revisited this pub many times since my last review and have enjoyed excellent Sunday roasts again.
I have not only enjoyed the food, atmosphere and wonderful service but also the fun conversations with the owner Jimmy and his hard working staff.
I still haven't ventured out into the rear garden area yet but look forward to doing so when the weather changes for the better.
Well done everyone, I look forward to visiting again soon!

An absolutely fantastic visit today at this gem of a lovely pub.
Between us we ordered the roast chicken and three meat roast with an extra portion of vegetables to share which came with extra roast potatoes.
The atmosphere was it's usually cozy, friendly and welcoming vibe. Our server was Maria who is a caring and attentive member of staff and who is also an excellent credit to the team.
Although it was a busy Bank Holiday weekend the landlord Jimmy always found time for a quick chat and a laugh during table checks.
As per usual we were offered an after dinner choice of limonchello or Baileys cream on the house. My Dad had a Jamesons whisky instead which was a kind and gracious gesture from Jimmy.
I accepted a lollipop🍭
On this particular visit we ventured out into the rear garden area where punters were enjoying drinks in the sun.
I also learnt that this area is also available for parties, BBQs and special occasions. The booking requirements are very flexible and can be tailored to suit your specific needs. It includes an outdoor bar for your convenience too.
Looking forward to our next visit!
At this pub always a friendly welcome, Jimmy the landlord is always there on duty , & Leo, is there as well,as other staff, lovely atmosphere, very warm and friendly.MEALS R SO VERY GOOD. SPECIALY SUNDAYS. 100% CARRY ON MY GOOD FRIENDS. GOD BLESS, KEV & DOM
Great pub! Good atmosphere, great food, lovely staff, and beautiful garden.
First time of having a meal there, went for Sunday roast absolutely amazing! Great portion size, tasty food, staff were very attentive and accommodating. Definitely will be going back!
Arrived early as soon as doors were open, 11.50 am Sunday, friendly staff who took order at the bar. Had Sunday Roast beef with all trimmings. Looked a bit light on the veg, when arrived, but when finished was totally stuffed. Asked for horseradish sauce to accompany. Plenty of slices of beef too. You won't go hungry here!!!
Went for a celebration but did not eat, so I can't comment on the food. They have a great range of beers, including a very nice peach beer. The garden is great if the weather allows. All in all a great pub well worth consideration if you are in Oxford.
