Avocado From Mexico

As a current Mexican Cocina visitor in Oxford, PA. "Avocados from Mexico & Ice Cream Mexican Restaurant" is a relief trying to have a meal that tastes like home, a great variety on their Menu, kind service and low prices, this place approaches to the real Mexican food more than any other places in Oxford, PA. The food is authentic just like any given town in Mexico and the service is a 5 star without a doubt. I totally recommend the Plato combo with T-Bone grilled steak or Cecina (thin & lean Mexican cut meat) salsa verde chilaquiles, rice, salad, grilled onions fresh cheese and avocados enough for 2 people.

Ive driven by this place for the last 9 years and never bothered to stop in. It always looks dark and I never see any customers. Often though, there is a truck delivering food and produce. As I drove by today a large bag of onions was being carried into the store and I though why not try it, the reviews are pretty good. I ordered 3 tacos, chicken, streak, and chorizo to go. It cost 6 bucks. Double corn tortilla, fresh cilantro and onions on each and it came with 2-3 ounce portios of sauce, one red, one green. I can handle the heat, and these sauces were the perfect heat (maybe too hot for some). The green had cilantro, jalapeño, and I think tomatillo. The red sauce has a chipotle pepper smokiness and good heat. The sauces were a pretty thick consistency and very fresh. The taco meats were spiced well, nothing unusual, and good flavor. The chorizo was not overly greasy and had a bit of smokey browned bits from the grill. The place could use a bit of refreshing on the inside, new paint, new floors, and more lights would go a long way in making this place more attractive. Before I went today I asked folks at 3 different local businesses if they've tried it, none had. All this being said, ill be back, im looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
