Simply the maddest restaurant experience I've ever had in the UK. Complete chaos. Too many take away orders being taken leaving guests in the restaurant waiting. But I lucked out. Food is delicious. No temptation to double the bill with drinks.

I have been here several times before and have enjoyed good food. I visited on 19th February 2022 and it was not good. We had to wait over an hour for the main to arrive and the service was poor. We were not offered any more drinks or desserts. Only 1 diet coke left in a place which doesn't serve alcohol anymore. I can respect the alcohol situation but at least have enough diet coke. We had 4 different people come to the table and it was a right mish mash. The menus were very old and torn. The experience was saved by the food. It was delicious. All served piping hot in wonderful authentic dishes. The poppadoms were warm and crisp with wonderful dips. The Naan bread was absolutely delicious. I had a lamb tikka masala and the lamb was plentiful and the sauce was lovely. I tried some other dishes and these were also delicious. Great food, poor service.

Friendly attentive waitress at the start although the place was virtually empty and then I got forgotten when takeaway orders started coming in. The place is like stepping back into the seventies apart from the prices.... VERY overpriced. Garlic mushroom starter was extremely unpleasant a big plate full of fried mushrooms swimming in oil with burnt bits of garlic and no other spicing. Chicken madras sauce was ok but the chicken was a bit dry and rubbery, no way worth £8.55!!!!Presumably the place is still going as there is virtually no competition around. Overheard they also own the Bengal takeaway around the corner.

We had an opportunity to visit this restaurant while visiting this area from London. This restaurant and the food is just amazing. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who loves Indian food. Lamb and chicken curries were absolutely out of this wonderful. Please try it out. You will not be disappointed. 👍🏽

Lovely food, very friendly front of house (mother and son), and generous portions, we very happily left with a take away. Only soft drinks and 0% beer (no problem what so ever) and a 5 ⭐ in the window for food standards. We will be back next visit, thank you for your great friendly service and lovely food.

We come on holiday every year to Paignton but this year we were looking for something different. We found it! We ordered a take away, and although the wait was around an hour we were happy to wait as they were so busy. We arrived and it still wasn’t ready but we sat and looked through different photos dating back to 1967! Some reviews say this place is outdated,I say it is vintage and it is a beautiful piece of history that shouldn’t be tampered with. Although we didn’t eat in,the detail on the glass is phenomenal and it clearly is a well looked after generational premises. The food was so worth the wait, massive portions, beautiful tender chicken, this is a real little gem and it was £9.95 for each of us including poppadoms, potatoes, onion Bhaji, salad, rice and curry. I've visited for the last four years, including yesterday on our annual holiday to Paignton. The food is absolutely wonderful, I've tried many restaurants, this is by far the best food I've tasted, the lady is very friendly and helpful and caring/understanding as my mother is disabled, I would absolutely 💯 recommend to everyone! Thank you to the team at Ganges!!

Amazing food the chicken in the tikka so tender melts in your mouth. Nan breads so tasty and fresh. King prawn shashlik {excuse the spelling) amazing too. The sauce served with the pickle tray and tikka dry is THE BEST we've ever tasted
