We had a last minute decision weekend to get away from our life.... this little dinner crowned our wonderful day... we looked on google for a light little dinner and Anchor's rest was close and have already 4.8 stars on the maps.....
Our host/bartender/waiter was Richard. He is a hard working honest guy and just loved his refreshing full hearted honest service!!!! The place is a lovely home feel bistro with a simple menu! We had the mussels starter and the fish of the day with linguine(number 2. ) both were amazing!! Sitting outside by the harbour was a soul healing peacful experience crowned by amazing food( cooked by an elderly lovely lady by the way) and Richard who always been there when needed!!!! ( NOTE for the owner!!! Richard is a crown jewel of your business,please give him a hug and treat him like king!)
So all in all it is working and really good to have the reviews of places!!
Anchor's rest has the extra shining 6th star in our heart!!!

We came twice during 4 day stay but next time we probably going to stick to this place only!
Seth, the chef, cook fresh fish so it's succulent and juicy and flavour every other part of the dish to perfection.
It's also not too busy, very reasonably priced and staff is friendly and welcoming! Highly recommended!
Tried this lovely new restaurant for the first time tonight and everything was so good!
I had the beef bourguignon which as you can see from the photo is no looker but wow, it tasted so good, full of rich flavours and lovely garlic mash. My other half had the garlic chicken which he said was delicious also. There were only two desserts on the menu, so we had one of each. He had the waffle and caramel cheesecake (he said was yum) and I had the chocolate torte, both with pouring cream. The torte was very rich and delicious! I know that they're planning on extending their menu soon but the current offering was well worth coming out for & the staff are lovely. It is now owned by the same people as TJ's and the standards are just as high. Also, very good value for money 💖💜

Staff were lovely, food was lovely. The upstairs restaurant interfered with the experience downstairs at the Anchor. They need to show the team and the guests downstairs more respect.

Lovely fresh fish and veg very well cooked, cocktails are great as well.
We tried Anchors Rest for the first time on 11th of Feb 2022. Excellent, fish pie and Sea Bass. Very reasonably priced. Great choice of drinks again fairly priced. Friendly staff great experience will definitely come again.
Fantastic restaurant serving high quality fresh food at very reasonable prices.
The fish is locally caught and cooked to perfection. Service is spot on.
