Really lovely house to visit. You can walk right up to the ruin, and even access it sometimes (weekends I think?). It's a stunning and largely original building. The grounds are stunning, especially in autumn.

Great place for a walk, good-sized car park

Great area to walk with the family. My 5 year old loved exploring the perimeters and the tiny graveyard in the woods. Also a Chinese gate and an altar to see. Apparently there is a waterfall out back but we didn't go that far.

Great place for a walk with many interesting things to see. The kids love it. Haven't been in the old house ruin, but you can see a lot of the interior from outside through the windows and doors.

Had a lovely walk about this gem today. Still amazes me how many lovely places there are just outside Edinburgh. Didn't know this place existed. Good old Google maps!
It's free to walk about but it's a working farm so if you are walking your dog be respectful of that. Lovely place for walks.
Car park is a short walk but the roads are good so wheelchair access is good.
A must visit.

A hidden piece of history in the most idyllic setting. A lovely building, we timed it badly and weren't able to take a look around inside. Beautiful surrounding grounds that were so great to walk around, dog friendly too. Go to the tower for breathtaking scenery and great pictures. 👍

What a beautiful place to go an amazing walk in the fresh air and taking in the beautiful sights. Brilliant that it's free too

The weather was not great but we managed to have a walk around, we wanted to picnic but too windy etc

Absolutely love this place. The ruins of Penicuik House. Was actually amazed when we could actually get in to the ruins and have a look around. Place is epic from the inside. Definitely well worth a visit. It's free entry to get in to the ruins

An absolute gem of a place! I didn’t know it existed until someone mentioned it on social media. A lovely place to wander around and the cafe is friendly and inviting. The grounds are dog friendly (so long as they behave as there is livestock). Parking may be a bit of an issue on busy days.
