Reviews of Chopping Block

Called at The Chopping Block for lunch between Christmas and New Year. What a pleasant experience. Helpful friendly service and excellent food, fresh, hot and tasty. Slightly unusual menu with a good variety of dishes, we had the brisket sandwiches. Now sandwich does not do this justice as a description, it was way better than expected, more than enough in quantity and quality. Beware, when they say hot sauce they mean hot sauce, we loved it. Well worth the cost, we will be back.

Perfect yet again. A chance to show off one of my favourite eats to my brother in law, & your didn't disapoint. We were again overwhelmed by the service & food. I again ordered the mouthwatering pulled pork, this time with brie on toast, side salad in a really tasty vinegaret. I bragged about my dish to the my guests but they were too busy tucking into the Tomato & Red pepper soup or savouring over the sausage roll. Thank you ( yet again ) for a fantastic meal & Service. Those of you reading this looking for a negative, well there is one. Brother in law wants to come up & visit us again!

Both my husband and I go here to the cafe. He comes here once a month when he visits his dad. I go in when I'm in the area. Good tea and coffee. We had a great breakfast about 10 days ago and today a lunch. Good service and food. It isn't cheap. We've pushed out the boat and bought a steak. Again you get what you pay for.

In these times when money is important we have cut down on so much stuff but every now and then I treat my wife and I to a quality steak. I got two fantastic sirloin steaks from here and cost £4 more than 2 finest from a supermarket but it is so so worth it. Great meat Great flavour just Great!!!!! #supportlocal

The quality of all food is excellent, in particular that from the butcher's counter. I have never been disappointed with anything I've bought. I have not had lunch there, only coffee and occasionally a delicious scone or special Sicilian pastry which were delicious. Staff are always cheerful and helpful, making it a very pleasant place to shop and/or eat.

We had a lovely box of meat & cheese from Chopping Block. The Turkey crown was delicious accompanied with pigs in blankets, sausage meat & black pudding scotch eggs. I was given a Turkey neck for the the gravy . We also got a pork fillet which was delicious with cream & mushrooms. We still have steak & sausage left to eat. I can highly recommend the quality of the food & the great service from the staff. I can’t wait for the coffee shop to reopen.

Enjoyed a lovely meat and cheese board for lunch with the family here. The staff were pleasant and the food and drinks were all high quality, and the sourdough bread is a nice touch. The cheese selection was a little generic and tasteless, though, and none of the staff except the manager knew what they were - I swithered over whether this was worth four stars or five, but realised I probably wouldn't order it again if the cheese quality was the same. Would happily pay a few more pounds or take one fewer block of cheese if the ones on the board were better. The Brie and the St James' cheese were the only two that lived up to expectations. Edit: Thanks Sarah for your response - we had only asked about the St James as that was one we enjoyed the most, and so we didn't inquire about the other two, but assumed the orange one must be some kind of cheddar! Hope the photo can be of some help in identifying. We visited this past Saturday afternoon.
