We visited last night, 17th Dec to celebrate my late husbands birthday. My daughter & her partner have been a few times, first time for me but I would certainly recommend it. The food is home cooked & the portions were plenty. The staff also were very friendly. I have already posted on fb recommending to my friends. I know I will certainly go again. �
Sunday dinner.
Favourite place to go for a Sunday dinner. Portion sizes are huge, food is fantastic and great value for money.
Every visit to the Red provides excellent quality home cooked food, delivered promptly by attentive staff.
Whenever it’s a miserable weekend, I’d never doubt taking the family to the Red knowing we will be well fed and watered for a reasonable price.
Went here recently and was pleasantly surprised by how good the service was. The food was the same.
I went just expecting standard pub grub, which the food is, it’s a classic pub menu, but I have to say that everything I had was absolutely delicious, generous and piping hot too. Far passing my (perhaps unfair) expectations.
I ordered from the bar menu. I had the wild boar hotdog which was delicious, and the BLT as well, also delicious. I ended up with so much food, I was giving the basket of chips away. Those chips were superb too!
All in all we had a lovely lunchtime meal with friends.
The best part was the lady who served us. She was friendly, she remembered our drinks when we went to order more, she was helpful and really pleasant too.
Couldn’t ask for more from a local pub.
Went for Sunday lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. Fantastic service from the staff. I had gammon steak which was huge and so tasty and juicy. Home made chips were delicious. My dad had the lamb roast and he said it was lovely. My brother also had the gammon and he said it was the best meal out he had had in ages
Veg would be nicer roasted, I'd go again for sure.

There were five people for Sunday lunch. We arrived on time and were shown to our table immediately. Drinks were ordered and were prompt in arriving. The star of the show was the meal itself. It was waiter service. The meats were cooked perfectly and the vegetables too. The carrots still had a slight bite, and broccoli the same. I mention those in particular because pub Sunday lunches can sometimes be a hit and miss affair where vegetables are concerned. One comment was "this is the best Sunday lunch I've ever had, anywhere ", to which we all agreed .
Desserts were truly homemade and delicious. Service was polite and courteous , which all made for a very pleasant time in the Red Lion. I thoroughly recommend it.
I had the home made steak pie and found the pieces of meat a bit tough, wanted a bit more cooking!, and my wife had beer battered fish which was more batter than fish, not like the food i used to get pre Covid!
It's a local pub but the prices are extraordinarily high £10 for two pints you are in penyffordd not chester no wounder it was so quiet

We ate here today for the first time. The Sunday menu was varied and very reasonable. It was a celebration meal and we were pleasantly surprised. The decor is tasteful (not your typical pub meal). The food was delicious, great quality, served professionally. First class food and service. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back. Well done all.
Came here for the Halloween pub quiz (so we would be safe from sports questions) and had a really great time. The quiz and all the bonus game rounds were great fun and Steve, the owner, was an excellent host. We will definitely be back. Lovely atmosphere and friendly people
