I found this chippy as we were passing through Pickering.
There is a helpful sign on the main road to Helmsley.
The cod was fabulous and was skinned. The chips were great.
Everything is cooked fresh so there is a small wait and it is worth it.
Next time we are in the area I will make a detour to come here.
Manic inside. Very popular especially with telephone orders. We had take out. Small fish and chips to take out one with peas the other with curry. Had a choice of spicy or mild curry which was different. Chose the mild which was fine. Opened it up once we got back to where we were staying and initially thought it was greasy but once settled on plate it was fine. For a small fish we thought it was quite generous and chips were about right. All in all very tasty, enjoyable and fulfilling.
If you are looking for traditional fish and chips and you are in the area this is the place to go. Everything is cooked fresh and is always hot, I recommend you try the fish it is always fresh tasting and not that frozen stuff. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the area. I highly recommend
Our family holiday down in Yorkshire led us to the charming town of Pickering, where we were on a mission to find the best fish and chip shop. The moment we had our first bite, we knew we had hit the jackpot. The fish was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, with a light and crispy batter that melted in our mouths. And the chips, oh, the chips were a revelation! Golden and perfectly crunchy on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside. Each bite was a delightful experience, and we couldn't help but indulge in this delectable meal. It was undoubtedly one of the best suppers we have had. Well done Potter hill fish and chip shop in Pickering for serving up such a mouthwatering feast that left our taste buds dancing with joy. In Scotland it's a fish supper 🤣
Excellent Lunch for 3. Collected within 15 mins of ordering. Piping hot, fresh,and freshly cooked. The best chips ever , lovely fish with crispy batter . Would again highly recommend. Staff friendly too.
Up here on holiday and have had 2 meals from here. The fish & chips are freshly cooked, really delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is really friendly, I would definitely recommend and when we're back in the area I will be back.
Bank holiday beginning of May Had a lovely meal from here. Small haddock chips and mushy peas. The whole meal was so tasty and the fish was delicious. Best fish we have had in a long time even better than Bridlington
Will definitely be paying another visit this Bank holiday.
We just had the best scampi and chips of our two week holiday ( travelling around Yorkshire).
Definitely recommend and wish we could visit chip shop again on our travels.

I had my first English fish and chips last night, and Potter Hill fish and chip shop didnt disappoint. I had to ask what the scraps were all about lol, the fish was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back this week guys.
On holiday with my family and we really wanted a fish and chips supper, with us being from Arbroath (which is known for their harbour and smokies, the fish, and chips are really good in my town but I have to admit the fish and chips from this chippy is amazing haven't had a supper so tasty as this! Absolutely delicious, sizes are big! I asked for a large but they didn't have any left so got a, medium fish and chips and it was good sized portion. Cooked perfectly, would highly recommend!
